My wife and I rode the Mark Twain Riverboat during our visit in December of 2012. We were walking up to board the boat when a Cast Member stopped us and pointed out our "Just Married" buttons. He asked if we would like to ride with the pilot in the wheelhouse. Of course, we accepted!
The pilot was a very nice gentleman who made excellent chat with us, including asking us why we chose to visit when we did, which was during one of the busiest seasons the park experiences. We told him we didn't have much of a choice - it was the only time she and I could both get off of work, and he laughed and said he understood. He was a very lighthearted man full of laughter! He let my wife and I ring the bell and blow the whistle at a couple of points along the route. At the end, he gave us two "Honorary Steamboat Pilot" certificates as a souvenir of our visit. Read moreI love the Mark Twain. It is a beautiful paddle-wheel steam powered ship. Lots of detail all over the place, from all the wood trim to all the mechanical workings, this is a great attraction. This is a nice piece of Disneyland to photograph, especially in lower light or to take photographs from. It is nice to go on the Mark Twain to get away from the crowds in Frontier Land and New Orleans Square. I wish the journey was just a few minutes longer and that a little more seating was available. It would be awesome if they could offer dinner rides on the Mark Twain where you could enjoy a nice meal with scenic views for an hour while either slowly making your way around the rivers of America or doing laps. I will ride the Mark Twain many more times and I...
