I loved every bit of this restaurant from food to service to ambience. I made a lunch reservation well in advance and even then I had to wait. We had a table right by the the Pirates of the Carribean ride, i dont know if this was the case because we had a reservation or it was just being lucky. We went to the restaurant at 240pm because I thought it would be less busy then for lunch. Boy, was I ever wrong. The line was out the door and around the corner, at that moment I was glad I had advance reservations. Even then, I still had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. I didn't complain. Even though we were inside of an anuesment park ride it felt like we were outside sitting in a nice patio in the middle of the night. There were beautiful paper lanterns strung across the room to set the mood. Occasionally there would be a ride boat passing by us asking us to throw them a bread roll because the riders were "hungry"; "of course not!" we would reply. The bread was too delicious to throw at them. It was buttery, garlicky, soft and pillow with just enough savouriness, It was all you could ask for in bread.
I ordered lamb, I can be quite picky about lamb and you would definetly hear about it if it was done right. It was crusted and beautifully cooked to a medium rare, no gaminess as lamb can get that way. The mashed potato was good but it was a tad too cheesy for me therefore a bit salty but for cheese lovers it was perfect it was gooey enough to be pulled up and leaving a string of cheese hanging on your fork waiting to be slurpped up. I also combined my entree into a fantasmic combo which also included an appetizer and dessert of my choice off the menu along with two tickets to see the fanatic show that night.
Let's be clear about one thing first, it isn't mandatory to get tickets but if you have tickets you get access to the front and center section for the show, seats within that section is still a first come first served basis as you are competing against other ticket holders at other restaurants offering that package.
Lastly I want to mention is the dessert options: there wasn't very many only two to choose from; creme Brulee and strawberry cake. I picked strawberry cake because I knew I could get good creme Brulee just about anywhere. The strawberry cake was very sweet as it was doused in a strawberry sauce, it wasn't real strawberries by the looks of it, almost food colouring and sugar syrup looking. It looked like the shape of a lava cake with a big strawberry on top with whipped cream. Aside from the off putting sauce, I don't anything else bad to say, the cake was soft and melt in your mouth and there was fresh strawberry filling inside. Even despite this, it was an amazing dining experience, I would...
Read moreThe only way to book this place is to call a few months out or do it though the Disneyland app. Which is fine once you know that but if you dont and you think you can just go there the day of you will be waiting for a long time and may not get in.
The atmosphere is amazing that is the only cool thing about this restaurant.!!!
And that is because the food is just ok. No better than a regular franchise restaurant outside like a Mimi's Cafe or "upscale" Red Lobster. But with prices of a 5 star Michelin restaurant you thinking your getting much more. Not just paying for the atmosphere. Sorry Disney you missed the mark on this one!!!
Which is completely disappointing and devasting! When you're paying $70-$100 a person to eat here and wanted/waited your entire life to finally get in and sit down and enjoy good fine dining with the atmosphere of the Pirates of the Caribbean. AND YOU ARE LEFT FEELING UNDERWHELMED, UPSET AND TRICKED!
The food size is large and the presentation is great but go to take a bit and it doesn't translate even with the low light. Which i guess in this case plays against them. Because you aren't using your eyes to taste the food only your taste buds.
Also, there is no room to move about. They have crammed too many tables and chairs in the small area to be able to get as many people in as possible. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable, probably on propose so you don't stay long. And our service was not very good the night we were there. We felt rushed to order but then never saw anyone until the food was brought out.
Our reservation was towards the end of the day and you would think the service would have been a bit better seeing as by the time we ordered the restaurant was clearing out and by the time we got the food most of the tables were empty and no more people were being sat. But no, they still never came to check on us or see if we needed a refill of something.
I would say dont go unless you are willing to pay for the atmosphere and if you are not hungry and want something good to eat. I will say this, not sure if we just caught them on a bad day but 2 of my friends said they didn't think the food was that bad when they went a year before. But when you may only go to a place on e in your life FIRST AND LAST impressionsare everything. Not sure I want to try again. Maybe if I got an annual pass again but not if it's just a one day thing. There are many other better restaurants to eat at that aren't as cramped, busy, taste better and not as expensive. 3 stars is only because of the atmosphere. Otherwise it would have...
Read morePLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me and my girlfriend were really excited to eat at the blue bayou considering it was are first time and didn't have a reservation. The host was able to squeeze us in at the very beginning of dinner service. to start the service was good, host and server were very nice. the server did her job adequately and did quality check ups on the food. The ambience was very fine. It’s fun to see the pirates ride from inside the restaurant. although it was very loud its definitely one of the best atmospheres i have been to. now i don't like bashing restaurants because i, for one, work at a fine dining restaurant and understand that the workers aren't perfect and mistakes are bound to happen even if its a super upscale restaurant. i like to build constructive criticism the best way possible because i like to see businesses succeed. the only down part was the food. we ordered the brioche bread for a starter. it came out in less than 2 minutes. all i can say is it was just bread, nothing special. my girlfriend ordered the pesto pasta witch wasn't good, and added chicken for a up charge of 10 dollars. the chicken was dry, unseasoned and very small for 10 bucks. The pesto, im not sure what needed to be fixed because i only took 1 bite and pushed it away. i ordered the prime rib for 58 dollars! i was very excited because i love steak. the server asked me how i would like it prepared and of course medium rare is the only way to eat it. also to mention, the food came out 5 minutes after the bread was cleared. from my experience theres no way to cook a 12 ounce prime rib in 10 minutes also considering the restaurant was packed full i new something was up. my prime rib was bone dry. wall to wall well done. not salted enough. the sauce was okay, nothing special. i did like the mash potatoes. they were simple and delicious. the carrots had no soul to them. it would be best to add something a little more appealing and finer considering the plate is 60 dollars. i ate the prime rib anyways because im not a complainer, also i was really hungry and im kinda a fata** so i just ate it haha. we got the pesto comped and left a 20 for a tip. it was a 70 dollar tab. im not sure if we just ordered all the wrong foods but if your planning on coming, dont plan on coming for the food. just a nice, cool and easy going place to relax. im rating it a 5 because i dont want to fail the restaurant just let them know my experience. i will give the place another shot next time im...
