The decor is actually pretty nice and so is the coffee. It's not over-roasted like some big Seattle chains and the menu has interesting Hispanic flaire. But some of their staff, or perhaps all, need to partake in extra training in barista arts.
The "supervisor" taking my order did not want to make my coffee the way I wanted it... she just could not allow me to order a cortado I come in on a Saturday morning as I wait for my car wash down the street. Two customers in front of me order and now it's my turn. Me: I'd like a cortado. Her: What? We don't have that... Me: yeah I didn't see it on the menu, but I'm sure you can make it. Her: uhh we can't do that, you have to get a latte or a macchiato, or something from the menu. ME: "I don't want a macchiato, or latte, I want a cortado. A latte has too much milk for me. Her: [looks at her order order screen and back up at me waiting for me to confirm what I want from their menu] Me: look, you're coffee shop that makes espresso, you can literally make anything!" Her: "we have a certain way we do things here. Me: can you just ask your supervisor? Her: I am the supervisor Me: okay can't you please just add a little more warm milk into a macchiato? That's it, a cortado just has a little more milk. Her: let me ask. [goes and asks someone, perhaps the real supervisor....] Comes back about 65 seconds later . "NO" sorry" Me: I turn to try to get some support from the coffee drinkers behind me. Everyone pretend that everything is fine and avoids eye contact with me. I look back really trying to stay calm and keep my voice down Me: "Listen, can you just pour a 2 oz shot of expresso and add 2oz of warm or steamed milk into a cup, you can use the latte cup if you don't have a 5 or 6 oz cup." Her: NO! I already asked my supervisor and I told you that we don't do it that way.... Me: [I look back again to gauge how I'm doing or if makes sense to continue to argue my case....the line is 8 deep and getting impatient.. I look back at her stumped and still deciding how to proceed in this situation] Her: So, do you want a macchiato, or latte or maybe a cappuccino?" Me: [defeated with my head down] I'll have the macchiato. Her: do you want to add a shot to that? Me: No...
Read moreI recently visited Tierre Mia Coffee, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. As a coffee enthusiast, I was excited to try their offerings, and I was not disappointed.
First and foremost, let's talk about the beverages. I ordered the Coco Loco Latte, and it was a delightful treat. The blend of coconut and espresso created a harmonious flavor profile. The latte was perfectly balanced, with the richness of the espresso complemented by the subtle sweetness of coconut. Each sip was a delightful combination of flavors that left me craving for more.
Next, I tried the Cubano con Leche, and it exceeded my expectations. The strong and bold flavor of the espresso was expertly balanced with the creamy sweetness of the milk. Despite having only two shots of espresso, the Cubano con Leche packed a punch and provided a much-needed caffeine boost. It was a robust and satisfying coffee experience.
Moving on to the atmosphere, Tierre Mia Coffee provided a cozy and inviting ambiance. The space was well-designed, with comfortable seating arrangements that allowed for a relaxed and quiet environment. Whether you're looking to have a productive work session or catch up with a friend, the atmosphere at Tierre Mia Coffee is conducive to both.
Additionally, the service was exceptional. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They were more than willing to answer any questions I had and provide recommendations based on my preferences.
Overall, I highly recommend Tierre Mia Coffee to any coffee lover seeking a quality experience. The Coco Loco Latte and Cubano con Leche were both outstanding, offering unique and delicious flavor profiles. The pleasant and peaceful atmosphere only added to the overall enjoyment of the visit. I am looking forward to returning to Tierre Mia Coffee for another exceptional...
Read moreUpdated review: I don't think I'm going to come to Tierra Mia any more. They keep messing up the drinks badly. I wanted a hot chocolate with light chocolate (1 pump of flavoring). I got HEAVY chocolate sweetness. Another time , I wanted a plain steamed milk with whipped cream and wound up with some weird mocha thing with coffee in it. (I hate coffee and had to spit it out my car window.) If you ask for a flavoring to be added that's not part of a menu item drink (for example, adding strawberry to something), they'll tell you they can't do it, which doesn't make sense. They have those ingredients. Just add them and charge extra. If they're worried the customer won't like it, I'd say the customer is even less likely to appreciate not being able to get their drinks the way they want them. The good news is that they fixed the drive-thru line and aren't backing up traffic, but that's the only positive now.
I love Tierra Mia! I'm from San Diego and was wanting a hot chocolate for my drive home one night after visiting my best friend in Anaheim. Tierra Mia came up on my Maps app and was open late, so I decided to check it out. I ordered a regular hot chocolate and loved it. I'm in town again for Vidcon and have stopped by every morning for a warm chocolate croissant and a hot chocolate for breakfast, and it's the perfect way to start the day. The staff is super friendly, and one guy is also extremely hot, lol. I think they have some interesting drink flavors, though I'm not a coffee drinker, so I haven't tried anything except the hot chocolate. The drive-thru line can get long, but it's always moved at an ok pace when I've been there, so definitely...
