Wow, I am just blown away by the experience I had here with my friend. Everything from the ambiance, food, and service was amazing. Hint: The restaurant is connected to the four stars hotel so you can turn left after you enter the driveway and park anywhere along the left hand side of the lot. There's also additional parking in the back if you keep driving past the barred entrance.
I ordered the pink lemonade, popcorn chicken for my appetizer, and balsamic glazed salmon for my entree. While my friend ordered the coconut shrimp for her appetizer and the short rib for her entree (which was to die for!). I think overall, I enjoyed her choices better than mine, but everything was delicious none the less.
Popcorn chicken - The batter was so crispy and perfectly crunchy, while the chicken was juicy and full of flavor! Tasted like it came freshly out of the deep fryer. Seasoning was perfect.
Coconut shrimp - Oh man, I'm honestly not a fan of coconut but I could eat this shrimp for days. Right when you bite into it, this subtle sweetness hits your tongue and then it's followed by the bold savory flavor of the shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up liking this.
Balsamic Salmon with Angel Hair pasta - This was a good, hearty plate. I enjoyed it and thought it was delicious, but probably would opt for the short rib instead :)
Short Rib with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus - I literally can't stop thinking about this dish. The meat just fell off the bone effortlessly and every bite was just so juicy and packed with flavor. Don't have too much to say about the mashed potatoes and asparagus other than it complimenting the short rib well. But man, I'd definitely come back here just to get the short rib again.
The waitress we had was so sweet and friendly! She definitely added to the whole experience by just being so attentive and caring.
I'm so gladly and eagerly leaving this 5/5 star review. Check this place out if you're near Disneyland! They also have a full bar for those who need to just wind down after a long day of...

When I entered Tru Grits, There was no waiting for service. I was immediately seated by gentleman who placed a menu on the table. With so many choices to choose from, I asked for a little time, knowing I wanted something light, but unique in taste.
When the waiter returned to take my order, I decided on calamari as my appetizer, a special salad called the Hoki Poke Salad, and root beer as my drink.
The first to arrive on my table was my root beer, ice cold in a tall glass, just what I needed after a long day.
Next I was served the Fried Calamari which was served with Spicy Calamari Sauce. The calamari was crunchy, tasty, fresh and lightly fried, awesome taste, and the sauce was so good, I had to ask for more.
When the Hoki Poke Salad arrived, it was colorful, fresh and the perfect size. This delightful salad contained salmon, Ahi, cucumber seaweed, spring mix and avocado. Being the lover of sauce, I quickly poured on the dressing that accompanied the salad. At first bite I was sold, sold enough that my fork barely made contact with the table until I was done. Yes, it was super, fresh and I would definitely order it again, but I might indulge and ask for a double! With still a little room to spare, though I was truly full, since no dinner is complete without sprouting your wings over the desert menu, and sprout I did. Once focused on my choices, I went for the homemade Creme Brulee 7 Vanilla Custard.
I never had Crème Brulee and had heard so many things about its unique taste.
This home-made desert topped with bruleed sugar and fresh berries was totally “yum.” Oh wow, and wow again.
I loved it, not to sweet, and light enough; I could have had a little more, yum.
And they say history repeats??? More desert please!
Come one, come all, and bring your family, because this restaurant is family and couple friendly, well to put it right, just...
Read moreIt's a Friday night, so why not try out a new place? My friend Sharon and I decided to check out Tru Grits. It's a cute place, elegant in a simple and cozy way. We started with their Pink Lemonade - YUMM! It came in a pretty shade of pink, very refreshing, and had just the right dose of sweetness. Since I'm a huge shrimp fan, of course I was interested in the Coconut Shrimp - it's lightly battered, has a good texture, with a subtle coconut flavor. Wasn't my favorite, BUT, let me tell you about the Popcorn Chicken Sharon ordered. Oh my. It was almost life changing. I LOVE popcorn chicken in general, it's one of my go to snacks. Let's just say this place's Popcorn Chicken just raised my standards a bit tonight. It was SO good! The meat was super tender and flavorful, with the right amount of crispy. I'm typically not a sauce person, but theirs looked inviting enough. That turned out to be a good choice, the sauce complimented the chicken really well. Mind you, this all happened BEFORE the main course. I may have been pleasantly surprised by the Popcorn Chicken, but when the Tycoon Beef Short Rib came out, I was definitely super impressed. First of all, it looked AND smelled AMAZING! It came with a generous amount of garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and roasted asparagus - the main reason why I ordered this entree in the first place. Anyway, I wondered how I'm going to get the meat off the humongous bone as I poked the rib with my fork. That's when the meat just fell right off. It was quite impressive really. Problem solved. It was for sure one of the best, if not the best short rib I've ever had. It was insanely tender that it melts in your mouth, I'm not even kidding. If you ever come here, you HAVE to try it!
Overall, the food was really good, and the service equally great, I would definitely...
