Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is such a fun and interactive ride at Disneyland! 🚀👾 The concept is super creative — you join Star Command on a mission to defeat the evil Emperor Zurg by shooting targets with your laser blaster. The theming is colorful and playful, with bright neon lights, space-themed decor, and familiar characters from Toy Story all around.
The ride is part shooter, part ride-through attraction. You sit in a two-person space cruiser, equipped with a joystick to spin the vehicle and two laser blasters to aim at the targets. The targets are different shapes and colors, with the more difficult ones giving higher points. It’s really satisfying when you hit the harder targets and see your score climb! 😎
One of the coolest parts is that the ride keeps track of your score, so you can compete with your friends and try to make it onto the high-score leaderboard. The spinning feature adds an extra layer of challenge and fun, making each ride feel a little different.
It’s a great ride for all ages — young kids will love the Toy Story theme, and adults will appreciate the competitive element. The line moves pretty quickly since the ride vehicles are constantly moving, which is a huge plus. Definitely a must-do, especially if you’re a fan of Toy Story or love interactive...
Read moreFirst, let me tell you how competitive I was during the three times I rode this. The first time, my friend and I were competing for the better score, but he beat me by 900 points with the final scores being 22,500 - 23,400. So, of course, I had to come back at him. The second time we tried competing for the better score, I beat my friend by 166,500 points with the final scores being 181,800 - 15,000. Finally, we had to settle the tied score, so we went for a third time. The result was that I ended up beating my friend by 191,800 points with the final scores being 345,500 - 153,700. I have three secrets to increase your scores! First, shoot the diamonds and triangles (Hint: You will get them by spinning your vehicle). Second, shoot the targets that are lit up. They will give you 10x more points than the actual target value. This is what I did to get a significant lead when he was winning in the second round. Finally, Zurg appears 2 times throughout the ride. Do you think he is just an animatronic? Nope! He actually holds a secret target which is worth 50,000 points. The target is right in between his chest plates under the Z. Anyway, I will say though. The next time I visit the Disneyland Park, I will definitely...
Read moreAs a die-hard Toy Story fan, stepping into Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters feels like being recruited straight into Star Command — and I take that mission very seriously.
The moment you hop into your space cruiser, the competition kicks in. This isn’t just a ride — it’s an intergalactic battle for bragging rights. Every target is calling your name, but let me tell you right now: only the lit-up ones are worth 1,000 points, and if you’re not gunning for those, Zurg wins.
There’s something ridiculously satisfying about nailing those glowing targets, especially when you hear that soft “pew” and watch your score climb like a rocket. It’s pure dopamine — laser-based joy. And yes, I’ll shamelessly spin the cruiser mid-ride like a caffeinated astronaut just to line up the perfect shot. Strategy matters, especially when you’re out to destroy your wife and father in law’s high score and earn that glorious “Galactic Hero” rank.
If you love Toy Story, competition, and laser tag blended into one cosmic joyride — this is the ride for you. Just remember: 1,000-point...
