A & L Wine Castle — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

Used to be a huge fan. I have near every store pick available on my whiskey shelf. I had stopped in once every week or two and spent hundreds of dollars at this store. But it is going to be really hard to support a store that would be so rude to customers for no reason. I went in because I follow the store on social media and they posted that Goose Island bourbon county stouts and variations were available. When I asked someone behind the counter about the beer they walked over to a box and handed me a 2020 bottle. I told them I have that version and was more interested in the 2021 or variations. He then proceeded to argue with me and tried to falsely explain to me that 2020 is the new release. I showed him the post on facebook and he just got annoyed with me and grabbed someone else from the back who would know more. The person from the back came up clearly annoyed. It is in no way MY fault that other people don't know about what is being sold and posted to social media. After getting the 2021 I asked about the other variations and he said only 1 per customer. I said well my wife is here, can she buy one, and he said no you came together, only 1 bottle per group. And he just walked away from me after that. It said NOTHING about 1 per person in the facebook post nor anywhere in the store. I was trying to buy a bottle of another variation. I wasn't trying to buy a case or something crazy. We went to multiple stores after that offered 1 bottle of each variation to each of us if we wanted. Moreover they were able to help us find what we were looking for without being rude and treating me like I am inconveniencing them for trying to buy from their store. My husband stopped in to pick up a specific rum we had been searching for about a week ago and told me I needed to go. A&L has everything! They have the staples that any decent liquor store has, but they have things that we haven’t seen or been able to find in the area. The man we spoke with (maybe the owner?) was extremely helpful and took time helping us find a new sipping rum to try. We told him some of the rums we’ve tried and liked (and some we didn’t like), and he helped us find what is likely to be my new favorite. I’d been searching all over A2 for a specific item, but no one carried it. I decided to try A&L after hearing they have a great and unique selection. Unfortunately, they didn’t carry the item, but I spoke with Jorgo and he was so nice! He took the time to check with his vendor to see if they had the item. Turns out they carry all four flavors! Jorgo placed a special order for me and it took less than a week to arrive. When I picked up the order, I tried to leave a tip, but it was refused even after my order was carried out to my car.
