âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (3.75 rounded to 4 stars) â Excellent Health-Conscious Options, But Some Room for Improvement
I recently visited Pork Fish and left with a mix of impressionsâsome excellent, others less so. On the positive side, the Rainbow Bowl was an absolute standout. Itâs not only beautifully presented but also hits the mark on both freshness and healthiness. If you're looking for a clean, satisfying meal with vibrant ingredients, I highly recommend trying it.
That said, the Pork Ramen with beef broth didnât meet my expectations. The flavors felt muted and lacked the depth I usually associate with good ramen. Of course, taste is subjective, and others might enjoy it more depending on their palate.
Pros:
A warm and professional greeting upon both entering and exiting the restaurantâalways appreciated. Staff clearly work hard and handle service with care and energy. The presentation of dishes, including the bowls and serving ware, adds a nice touch. I really appreciated the electronic ordering system with clear photosâit makes decision-making easy and efficient.
Cons:
The ambiance is fine for a casual experience, but nothing particularly memorable. Personally, I find disposable chopsticks and plastic utensils take away from the overall dining experience, especially given the quality of the food. Overall, Pork Fish offers some solid menu items and a smooth ordering experience. With a few tweaksâparticularly in utensil quality and consistency across dishesâit has the potential to become a go-to spot. Iâm glad I tried it, and Iâd definitely return for the Rainbow Bowl again.

Read moreMy neighbor recommended this place for poke bowls with the caveat that "...it's not world-changing poke, but it's good." He was absolutely correct. If you're in the mood for some sushi/sashimi but don't feel like spending a fortune, want it fast, or on the go, take a few minutes to stop in and get a great, satisfying poke bowl. I haven't had such a satisfying bowl of delicious raw fish and toppings since the spicy fish bowl at our dearly departed Sadako years ago.
I also got a bowl of pork ramen. I've decided not to factor that in my review because this is a poke place, and quite honestly, I've been ruined on any ramen that's not like the ramen at Slurping Turtle đ˘ where they make their own noodles in-house.
If you're even struck with the thought of or considering getting supermarket sushi at Whole Foods, Kroger, Meijer, or whatever, bat that thought away and just drive a couple of minutes to Poke Fish on Washtenaw. It will likely cost about the same as getting some of that supermarket stuff, but it will most definitely be...
Read moreMy friend came to our club meeting with a bowl from here. It looked and smelled so good that I had to ask where she got it from - Pokefish. I went to go there on my lunch and realized they were literally 4 doors down from where I work. I know, I know. But hey I only come to Ann Arbor for work and school okay? I don't usually pay attention to places I wouldn't normally go.
I ordered from them online. The online ordering process was quick and easy. I liked that I was able to create my own bowl. I'm pretty picky with what I want in my food, especially when it comes to sushi style eating. I got to put together my perfect bowl for a decent price compared to other places within the radius that accomodates my lunch period.
My order was done before my ETA which was AMAZING because that meant I had 20 minutes to eat my lunch instead of a short 10. Thank you Pokefish for a delicious, fast, and easy lunch. I will...
