Michaels — Local services in Ann Arbor

So, I went there today with my son to pick up an online order for one item. When I got there, the line inside was very long (all the way to the back of the store) so I waited in line and the line was moving pretty quickly so it didn’t take long. I purchased a couple of items that were on the way to the checkout counter and figured I could ask the cashier to grab my 1 item. She cashed me out then called someone to help me with my online purchase. She then told me to wait at checkout 7 for a cashier to come to the counter. I waited maybe a minute or so then the online shopping worker came up to me and told me to wait on the opposite side of the counter. She asked for my name and looked it up then said, “ma’am we JUST got your order an hour ago and it won’t be ready until after 7.” So I responded, “well, I already purchased it and I know where it’s located in the store, can I just grab one and you can scan it off since I already bought it??” And she said, “we have 30 orders in front of you and the most we can do for you is you can buy it and wait in line again then go online and cancel your order.” Which made NO sense at all to do since I already waited in the line and all she had to do was scan it off quickly after I went to go grab it. So I left the store with my son...not even 10 minutes after I left, I got a text message stating that my online order was ready for pickup!!! The WORST experience ever! Went in for fabric. Shelves were nearly empty. Unstocked boxes everywhere. Pushed the button twice for assistance with cutting the fabric. No response. Saw 2 employees who promised to call someone to help. Finally one of the two, (Zach), came back and made the first cut. No itemized slip, just a small slip with a barcode. Took the bar code to the registers. Couldn't use the self-check out. After scanning the barcode, got an error message that "order already processed," WHAT? Only one cashier available and she was helping with a balloon order. Line continued to grow. I asked if she could call someone to help. She said she did. Then told me that I could use the self-check out. I told her about the error message. She just dismissed me! FINALLY, the same clerk who helped at the cutting table, came to the registers. After she scanned the barcode, the sales receipt listed an item that I did NOT even go near! She graciously said that she remembered me and charged me 'correctly', but with no itemized receipt, I really don't know. The receipt listed ONE item for $9.59. I figured it was close enough. Paid and got the heck out of there! Literally, it took me over 40 minutes from finding my items to leaving the store. Argh! Went to the website and can't find a customer service tab to lodge my complaint. ...

Saturday we hosted my twins 8th birthday party at Michaels. This place is underrated. The kids had a blast. There are numerous parties to choose from. We chose the Slime and Tshirt party. The girls decorated their own slime, and giggled about how none of their moms or dads like slime. They made poop emoji t-shirts. We were not rushed, our hostess Julie was exceptional. All of the staff from the cashiers to the managers were helpful and extremely nice to myself, all the children, and parents alike. One of the really good things about birthday parties at Michaels is you can bring your own food in. The age range is 7-11. We had the majority of our guests fall into that age bracket. Two guests had younger siblings (age 3)and they made slime too, and enjoyed themselves. Also the party package came with invites, and Thank you cards. The classroom was decorated well enough to where I honestly didn't have to bring any decorations...of course if you love decorations knock yourself out. I placed a cake and food on the tables, drinks and some party favors and the girls thought it was pretty cool. There was even a backdrop available for the girls to take pictures. They had a blast. We will definitely be returning next year to try out a different...
