Whereas most Barro's Pizza locations are excellent, being well priced, having good toppings, and representing overall a very good value, this location does its best to add hurdles to enjoying your experience.
All of the other Barros locations have individual pizza slices served until 4 pm. This location is different, it only serves them until 3 pm. Being that this chain of pizza restaurants is regional, one takes for granted the norms and protocols that the restaurant has at every other location.
Speaking of different norms and protocols, this Barros location also has no salad bar. This is significant because it is a norm at every other location. Certainly, you can order a salad, but since you cannot pour your own salad together, it has often ended up as a roughly gas station quality, thing.
This location also lacks a number of the condiments and smaller accoutrements that other locations have. I do not know why this location does not provide the same Services, it's just irritating.
One positive about this location is it has a children's play area. There are toys for young children and some video game machines. Naturally however, all of the drink stations are on the other side of the restaurant. This means mom and dad need to get up and go to the other side of the very large restaurant, losing sight and track of their kids, in order to refill a drink. This is not something that I enjoy when I come to this location.
Equally unwelcome are the number of things that must be personally requested from somebody behind the counter instead of being generally available for somebody to pick up from a station. This would not be as big a problem if there were more people working or if the people working there were more attentive. The number of times that I have to leave kids over by the play area unattended or tote them with me in order to wait for a long time for someone to eventually help me is troublesome.
Is important to stress however that the pizza and wings are both really excellent. Whereas the wings maybe someone overpriced, I have very rarely been disappointed, and I go to Barro's locations at least twice per week. There are also selections of sandwiches and pasta, though these are not of the same quality as the pizza.
I really do hope this Barro's location comes around, its location is great for a number of good activities including things that can be done on the Pima Salt River Indian Community and the McCormick...
Read moreI just moved to the Scottsdale area and so had a "welcome to the neighborhood" coupon for a free large 1-topping pizza, to try to gain the business of new residents. Not being familiar with the place, I just called and attempted to order a pizza with chicken on it. The girl on the phone tried to give me a "chicken supreme" which sounded to me like more than 1 topping, and I explained to her I had a coupon for just a free 1-topping, so whatever that would get me. She seemed indecisive so I said in order not to cause issues just give me the chicken as my 1 topping. I then proceeded to drive 15 minutes there and did not bring my wallet. At the counter, the girl informed me I owed them $2 or so because chicken was more expensive. I told them I didn't bring my wallet and they did not tell me on the phone about this when I clearly told them about my free coupon. The manager did not even come out to speak to me. When getting home, I called and spoke with the manager, and the excuse was "the girl on the phone is new" and they then said I could turn around and drive back to get the pizza, rather than offering to deliver it, and maybe win me back. I told them they had lost a customer and would never order from them again. Please DO NOT ORDER from Barro's Pizza, there are many other places who deserve...

Ordered a dozen "hot" hot wings and a small cheese pizza for pickup. Very nice staff; friendly and smiling. Order was right on time. The order was hefty!
The wings were meaty, the sauce was somewhat spicy but not necessarily "hot." It could have used a little more sauce. Plenty of ranch dressing.
The pizza was very tasty with plenty of cheese. There was a good amount of sauce. The crust had a good crunchiness to it. I ordered a traditional crust. NOTE: The crust is very thick; nearly an inch in spots, mostly 1/2 inch-3/4 inch or so. That makes for a "bready" pizza. They also have a thin crust. I'll try that next time.
I deducted a star because I ordered "crispy" wings and these were a shade underdone. I was home eating them in about 10 minutes, there was no crispiness to them. NOTE: It was Xmas Eve and about 30 minutes before closing and they were getting a ton of calls for orders.
I will definitely be back. I've had their lunch specials in the past and they are just right for...
