I recently discovered the Kickstand Cafe in Arlington, and it has quickly become my go-to spot for a perfect cup of coffee and a cozy atmosphere. This hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Massachusetts is a must-visit for all coffee & biking enthusiasts. First and foremost, the coffee at Kickstand Cafe is exceptional. Whether you're a fan of a rich espresso, a velvety cappuccino, or a smooth pour-over, they have it all. The baristas are true artists, consistently crafting each drink with precision and care. The beans they use are top-notch, resulting in a flavor profile that is unmatched in the area. It's evident that the cafe takes great pride in serving the best coffee possible. What sets Kickstand Cafe apart is not just its outstanding coffee, but also its inviting atmosphere. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the warm and rustic ambiance. The decor is tastefully done, with comfortable seating options that make it a perfect place to unwind, catch up with friends, or even get some work done. The natural light flooding through the large windows creates a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere. The staff at Kickstand Cafe deserves a special mention for their friendly and attentive service. They always have a smile on their faces and are more than willing to offer recommendations or provide insight into their coffee selection. Their passion for their craft shines through, making each visit a delightful experience. In addition to their remarkable coffee, Kickstand Cafe also offers a variety of delectable pastries and snacks. From fresh-baked croissants to mouthwatering muffins, there's something to satisfy every craving. The food is prepared with care and pairs perfectly with their coffee offerings. Lastly, I appreciate that Kickstand Cafe is committed to sustainability. They use eco-friendly materials for their cups and utensils, and they actively promote recycling and waste reduction. It's refreshing to see a business that cares about the environment and actively takes steps to minimize its carbon footprint. In conclusion, the Kickstand Cafe in Arlington is a true gem for coffee lovers. With its exceptional coffee, inviting ambiance, friendly staff, and commitment to sustainability, it has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Whether you're in the mood for a quick pick-me-up or a leisurely coffee experience, Kickstand Cafe is the perfect place to indulge your senses.

This charming café welcomes its visitors with the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee even before they step inside. The café's delightful setting, with its open and airy design, instantly sets a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Inside, the space buzzes with the vibrant energy of people engaging in various activities - some engrossed in conversation, others focused on their work, and many simply enjoying a well-deserved break from their outdoor adventures. We decided to indulge in a salmon sandwich and an egg sandwich, accompanied by cappuccinos. The food was delicious, with each bite of the sandwiches offering a blend of fresh flavors that complemented the outdoor setting perfectly. The coffee, while satisfactory, didn't quite reach the same heights as the food, but it was still a pleasant addition to our meal. A particularly heartwarming aspect of our visit was the service provided by a charming elderly gentleman who brought our food to the table. His courteous and endearing demeanor added a special touch to our experience, making us feel genuinely cared for. Overall, the café offers a delightful escape, perfect for those looking to unwind in a scenic setting. The combination of tasty food, a welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service makes this spot a gem worth returning to. I'm already looking forward to coming back in the summer, envisioning a serene outdoor dining experience by the pond, further enhancing the already enchanting ambiance.

The Kickstand is host to a mixture of diners - students hard at work, friends catching up, local residents, moms with little ones, and the occasional cyclist. I suspect the name comes from the fact that it is close by the bike path that runs through Somerville. Indoor and outdoor seating — as well, one-seat counter-style seating along the windows allows solo freelancers to stay awhile on their computers without taking up tables. The food is quite good - not memorable but tasty - and the drinks are very good. The usual lunch fare with a lot of options. The baristas are on the ball. The atmosphere is very noisy - there is no acoustic treatment and the dining space is not that large, so the place is ringing with sound - clatters from the bus tub, kitchen noises, children squealing, and lots of conversation - so it’s not (for me) a great place to go if I want to unwind, but if I am up for something more high-energy it’s okay. Decor is colorful and fun. Parking is on-street and can be tricky. They share a small lot with another business and it is usually full. Kickstand is obviously a thriving community stop and a good cafe. It’s easy to feel like you belong and that you are welcome to stay and enjoy your meal.

I've been going to Kickstand for years and years as a very regular customer up till when the pandemic happened. Unfortunately, COVID curbed my patronage. I am immuno-compromised and usually avoid eating/drinking in indoor public spaces though I've been going more often now. Very recently someone invited me to Kickstand to sit outside and to get me something to eat/drink. When I got there, due to the hot weather I was parched, and here's why my review is so abysmal. Pre-pandemic, Kickstand used to have reusable hard plastic cups for their water. I always appreciated that about them. But now, it looks like they have switched to these little disposable plastic cups instead....which is just so wasteful and bad for our wildlife and our own health. I tried to go into the cafe to see if I get a glass or reusable cup instead but my acquaintance insisted going instead. She came out with a huge disposable plastic cup and told me the staff refused her reusable mug/cup for water and basically would only give her plastic--they apparently argued a bit over it. I don't know what made Kickstand switch their practice, but I am very disappointed their care for the environment has slipped. However, it's another level to refuse a reusable cup to someone who specifically asks--you don't know their reasons. In addition to my concerns over wildlife, I have health conditions that consumption of plasticizing chemicals exacerbate. So I try when possible to minimize my exposure. It's not easy, and these kind of things--refusal from restaurants to work with customers, is one reason why. When I learned I couldn't even get water the way I wanted it, I declined my acquaintance's offer to buy me food or coffee there. I don't want to support places that won't be considerate or make minimum attempts at environmental sustainability. And I decided for the indefinite future I will not eat at Kickstand again. Please rethink...
