Update: They also sell wholesale pies, pastries (croissants, cookies, danishes, muffins and more) and all kinds of artisan baked breads to local cafes, businesses and restaurants within roughly a 1-10 mile radius! Reach out to Alan for more information.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting California Bakehouse, and I can confidently say it’s a gem in Artesia! Chef Alan, a James Beard award and Michelin star award nominee, brings incredible talent to this no-fuss café, where every bite and conversation reflects passion and quality.
The standout for me was the sliced pastrami sandwich—it’s cooked in house and hand sliced! They also offer an impressive variety of freshly baked breads, cookies, pastries and pies that are perfect for taking home.
What truly sets California Bakehouse apart is their genuine commitment to community. Their mission to support those in need, particularly the homeless and hungry, speaks volumes about their faith and values. It’s refreshing to see a small business not only focused on great food but also on making a positive impact.

Read moreI just found this gem after having a huge craving for a sourdough loaf. I arrived 10 minutes before closing, and was greeted by a very enthusiastic employee. They had very little sourdough loaves left, but they had one loaf of cheddar-jalapeno sourdough. I bought one of these and a blueberry muffin.
They were both very good. The blueberry muffin was actually blue and the cheddar-jalapeno sourdough was delicious. The cheddar-jalapeno sourdough had an impressive amount of cheddar and jalapenos on top.
I came for sourdough but left with the most delicious blueberry muffin I've ever had in my life, for real.
I wish I took pictures to show you guys the baked goods that I got today, but as you can imagine, they both look like a muffin and a sourdough loaf. My photos probably wouldn't do then justice, but trust me when I say: they are delicious.
10/10 would visit again and this bakery has definitely become my official go-to...
Read moreA brand new bakery spot/Cafe recently opened up to Artesia/ Cerritos. I just so happened to see it when I stopped by for a CVS run. Walked into this place and the sourdough breads are so beautiful! I wish I could buy each one but that would mean I would have to eat them all and I can't. They had this cute baked bread in the shape of a crab and crocodile...too cute!. Anyways, since they are new here they need attention. So here I am doing my part to help out this small business. Before I left I bought a chocolate chip cookies. It was delicious and rich of good quality ingredients. I will definitely return to get their breads and espresso muffins!
