We used to be regulars here, but tonight's experience has made me not want to come back.
My husband and I used to come here several times a month. Tonight when we arrived the place was not busy. In fact we were the only two diners there for most of the experience. I ordered the panang curry. This is usually my favorite dish here. I love the way the broccoli and bell peppers soak up the curry sauce.
Unfortunately, when they brought out my husband's meal, they brought out the panang curry ramen instead of the normal panang curry. That wasn't necessarily a bad problem, and at the very least is an understandable mix up. I let them know, and our waitress took the ramen back.
I expected a pretty quick turn around on making the right meal since we were the only two customers there. It took some time (my husband was nearly done eating) before the second attempt came out. Only instead of their actual panang curry with the wonderful veggies and curry sauce, it was literally a bowl full of tofu, the liquid broth from the ramen poured over top, 5 skinny slices of under-ripe bell pepper on the side, and all hidden under basil leaves as if to try to mask the fact that they didn't actually make the dish.
It took a few minutes to get the server's attention (at this point there was another table in the restaurant). She took a look and said it did look really liquidy for curry and went to the back to check something. When she came back she said she could ask the chef to make it again if I didn't like it, but that was all she could do. The attitude was basically "oh well, not sure what you want from me."
I declined to wait on a third attempt. My husband was done eating by this point and I didn't want to wait around on a place that made me feel like it was unreasonable to expect the dish I ordered. The waitress offered a half hearted apology with an insincere "well sorry about that." Then she walked away, so it took a few more minutes to request the check and a to go box for my husband's left overs.
I get that there are busy nights or occasional mistakes in the good service biz. I don't understand this level of apathy towards semi regular customers when the restaurant obviously made several mistakes over the course of a not so busy night. The whole thing has left a very bad metaphorical taste in my mouth, so I don't think we will...
Read moreUdon noodles instead of ramen noodles?? So confused we thought we missed something on the menu but other diners all had udon noodles as well. From past reviews, they clearly do have ramen noodles typically but maybe they ran out and didn’t explain that to us. They had run out of pork but that was at least told to us when we tried to order it. The vegetables were undercooked to the point of being nearly raw and the kimchi in one of our ramen bowls was not allowed to fully defrost before being added to the soup - resulting in lukewarm soup and cold kimchi. Clearly understaffed which had us waiting about 50 minutes for both drink and food and being unable to clarify with the staff why a ramen place is serving udon noodles.
Reading other reviews, it seems this place gets busy like this very often. Staffing is an issue everywhere and we do hate leaving less than perfect reviews for small businesses but if this is chronic problem then perhaps they could consider limiting seating/online orders to better cope with the demand. The place was nicely decorated and very clean. The staff were very polite and were clearly...
Read moreSat outside at 303 Ramen...such a cute and private patio surrounded by greenery and cute shaped topiary ornamentals...there is a gorgeous window chime and when a breeze came thru the sound was very soothing! I always come for the 303 Ramen because I love the flavor and cheesy base and hubs loves the miso ramen, he opted for spice level hot which he said was good but next he may opt for a level lower..he said the heat did not take away from the flavor tho.. we've also tried other dishes as well and their pad Thai is so yummy and my MIL came with us this time and had sesame chicken...it was very flavorful and the chicken was tender and not stringy like we've had at other local places. They were very attentive to her allergies and explained every dish is made fresh so they can cater to allergies 😋 except for most of the broths...our server was very nice, charming and held just the right amount of conversation with us..oh and I was able to have the cheese wontons here because they do not have crab in them! A plus for me since I have a shellfish allergy! They came out delicious warm and crispy! Fave spot in...
