I wanted to like GB Fish & Chips. I gave them at least four tries before deciding to leave a poor review. On the fish and chips front, I think my dislike of GB's fish (and chips) is based more on preference than poor food. I prefer "Picadilly Square" fried fish which has a lighter, crispier breading than the heavy, often oily breading which I don't have a London reference for but dislike. (Eat at Yorkshire Fish & Chips in Pecos in Westminster CO to taste the difference). So I had written off GB Fish & Chips for a place to eat fish & chips, but was excited to try their meat pies when I saw a banner out front. Mistake! I have eaten delicious meat pies in England, Australia, and the U.S. that were gooey inside, not too much gravy (a handheld food) which were unctuous, satisfying, and delicious in every way. GB Fish & Chips' meat pies were not only small but also dried out, not gooey, not delicious... nothing "yum" about them. They were obviously worse for the wear from reheating... in short NOT good, not yummy, not satisfying in any way! And now onto GB's so-called "sausage rolls": after having had the opportunity to travel a large swath of the world, I have never met a worst sausage roll in my life. I think that GB wrapped whatever "sausage" was inside in puff pastry, which completely flaked off on first (or second bite) leaving me holding this wierd hard "sausage". I have never, in dozens of trips to places where sausage rolls are a "thing", ever seen anything like this "food" paraded as a sausage roll. It was a mess and disgusting! And so, as much as I would like for this Olde Town Arvada restaurant to succeed in the interest of our community, I WILL NEVER EAT AT GB FISH AND...
Read moreIt was decent but for me and my fam(maybe off day or something for them) but it was so oily. We had pollack and squid and my fiance who loves crunch was picking pieces of squid out of the breading because it was soaked in oil too badly. The fish inside was really tasty! The fries were good to me but my fiance didn't care for them he said some chunks seemed a lil underdone. Coleslaw was solid and I enjoyed it. The curry sauce was something I tried for the first time, it was OK but not my fave would probably not get that again. Overall mid for us unfortunately for the price! Maybe it was an off time or something but that oil was icky and sat in my stomach so hard haha 😄 the lady in the front also gave my dad issues when he picked up his tray. He ordered coleslaw and she tried to say it was on me and my fiance tray. Then when they realized it wasn't, they said he didn't buy one. But he didn't click for a receipt , but they figured it out and gave it to him bc they seen he did buy one. Just kinda didn't like how they did that to him 😅 maybe keep track of orders better instead of kinda coming at him like it was his fault ... might try the other location to see if...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the food was AMAZING!! Best fish & chips I've had in a while! And the atmosphere was very chill. Loved being able to eat outside. However, I was quite disappointed when our food arrived that our fish & chip meals were missing the chips! I went back in & the guy that took our order said he would help me. He brought out the reader to look at the order. He said that he had only charged us for one meal & he could get those started right now. BUT then said he would need to charge me for the other order of fries. Yes, I was disappointed considering that I figured he would have given them since they didn't give us the fries that dud cone with the meal that we had been charged for. But whatever, I just wanted my fries. He came & I had to pay an extra $7 just for the fries. I'm not one to start madness with them, so I sucked it up & paid it. I can say that as good as the fish was, the service was not as good. So the next time I head out to Denver to visit my son again, this will not be one...
