Beach Bar — Restaurant in Asbury Park

usually every time im here i have an exceptional experience - great bartenders, security, dj, vibes etc. however when i was there on friday they had a really nasty bartender named anna i think? i’d never seen her before that day. i ordered a lemon drop shot w a lemon slice and she looked at me like i asked her for the craziest thing in world. she scoffed and said “ok wait a minute” and she continued to do other things. she then came back and asked “what did you want?” and i repeated a lemon drop shot w a lemon slice. she made it (horribly btw) and handed it to me w no lemon slice so i asked for it again where she again scoffs and says yeah but never gave it to me lmao. then my friend who was directly next to me wanted to order and she made a passive aggressive comment to the bar that if we’re together than order together. girl you didn’t even look at him once while he was standing at the bar w his card out? you’re literally a bartender your job is to service everyone at the bar …. i tipped her but wish i didn’t. left as soon as i took the shot (again … horribly made) she...

I had a very disappointing experience at the beach bar yesterday. I approached the bar to order a drink. The bartender, Nick, ignored me for an extended period, serving other customers who arrived after me. Despite this, I decided to tip him 25%, hoping it might improve the service.

Later, when I returned to the bar to get another drink, Nick once again ignored me and prioritized other customers who came after me. When I finally managed to get his attention, he bluntly told me that better tips result in better service. This statement left me feeling insulted and undervalued as a customer.

As someone who believes in supporting local businesses and typically tipping well for good service, I was shocked by Nick's attitude and behavior. I understand that tipping is part of the industry, but it should never be a prerequisite for basic, courteous service.

Used to LOVE coming to beach bar; it was one of my favorite bars in Asbury. After my most recent experience there, I will never be going back. A security guard was secretly filming me and my friends? When we confront her, she acts defensive (there were 5 of us that witnessed the behavior). I ask another security member if I can speak to the manager. He tells me to wait while he goes and gets the manager. Then he comes back with 5 security guards, takes my $20 drink from my hand and dumps it, tells me to leave right now. THEN pulls out his phone to start recording me as if to prove I am acting disorderly because I am questioning why I'm being thrown out. We left, didn't want to cause a scene.
