I'd been wanting to hit Wicked Weed for a few months, but it's not exactly close enough for a quick dinner. So when we were staying in Asheville recently I wanted to make sure we got to try out their restaurant. I'm glad we did. We walked into the large patio area around 1800 on a respectably cool Saturday, and were told that the wait would be 35-45 minutes. We grabbed our little beeper deal and wandered around for a bit. Walked to the co-op across the street and picked up some provisions and I ran them back to my car while the family returned to the WW to wait for our table. When I returned I attempted to walk back in to rejoin my family but the bouncer informed me that they were at capacity before I could even get into the patio. He was informing everyone that re-entry wasn't guarantied, and pointing out a very obscured sign that I had seen, but didn't read. It genuinely doesn't look cautionary and it's obscured by a gate and some plants, IIRC. I may be completely off base. The bouncer let me in after I explained what was going on (when I walked back before returning to our car, there was no capacity problem), and I totally understand fire code. So this didn't give me a bad taste or anything. I think people need to know that this place can be popular enough that they have to force people to be safe. After sitting down we waited around for what started to feel like we'd need to just leave before a waitress finally came by. Again, this place was at capacity, so I knew they'd be running behind, and I was happy to cut them some slack. The waitress didn't leave us hanging after she started serving our table. We soon found that they do not offer flights on weekends. Noted. We had some great beers (love the Pernicious). We ordered a straight up burger, falafel wrap, pretzel, and the kababs. Everything was top notch. We'll definitely return to WW in the future, however I hope we have a sitter. :)

We were told that may have to wait for half an hour, so we got to explore the beautiful bar downstairs. It took less than ten minutes to seat us. The atmosphere on both levels is stunning. Unfortunately, the food leaves a great deal to be desired. The boiled peanuts had obviously been sitting in boiling water for a long time because they were severely overcooked and not tasty at all. The steak was cooked well, but they could have seared the fat more. The fries were tasteless for the most part. The white, possibly horseradish, sauce was not for me, so I did not eat more than two bites of the salad. I asked my waiter if I could switch the salad out for mac and cheese to begin with. He was not sure he could, but he did not update me before my food came out, so I ordered a side of it afterwards. It was cold, but probably would have been great if it was fresh instead of heated under a lamp. My partner got the burger, which was pretty greasy. The crispy meat on the sides was tasty, but the slimy lettuce and secret sauce were not up-to-par and his fries were just as bland. He asked for some spicy sauce in an attempt to make the burger taste better and the chili oil definitely helped. The place is beautiful, but I think it should be understood that this brewery does not specialize in its food.

Can we talk about worst customer experience? Yes? Then Wicked Weed is the place if you want to experience such. My friends and I were visiting Asheville for the first time during Veterans weekend. We walk in, the host or employee greets and we mentioned there is 3 of us and we just want to have beer (it’s a brewery). She mentions we can either use the table in the middle pointing out or go downstairs. We opted for the table she pointed. After we sat down, a female waiter or employee comes in and asks if we have talk to the host and we said yes. We tell here, we are only having beer; she leaves without taking our order. Then another female waiter, host or employee (bear in mind no one at this point identifies themselves or greets) comes in to asks the same questions. At this point, I’m a little irritated with all the rudeness since I have been repeating the same story to some employees that seem to think I walk in and sat down without following protocol. She then explains, that if we are only doing beers we have to go downstairs, and asks to describe who was the person that told us to seat there. I felt that at this point, she could have worked for the gestapo. As a customer I have the ultimate word and can and should walk away from a place or situation that is not aligned with the customer journey that I deserved. I live in Miami and I have never experience such horrible customer service in a local brewery. Imagine that! Do yourself a favor walk a couple of blocks and walk in to Asheville Brewing Co, you will definitely notice the difference in customer service.

Absolute best experience of our first trip to Asheville and I don’t even really like craft beers. We came two nights in a row- the first for a flight of beer for my husband. The next night, we had a tour of the brewery and had dinner. The tour was great- our guide was Tim who was very knowledgeable and personable. It was fun and educational for both me (who doesn’t know really anything about beer) as well as for my husband who has personal experience with home brewing beer, wine and mead. We then had dinner which was absolutely delicious. I would come back for the food alone, sans any alcohol. My husband had the steak tartar as an appetizer and we shared the chips and cheese app. He said the steak tartar was good for the mid-range price and the homemade chips and cheese were a devious indulgence. For entrees, my husband had the bison burger, which he really enjoyed and I had the salmon with couscous and broccolini. I was shocked that for an establishment that is primarily a brewery that the salmon entree was *so* good. There was a great balance between savory and light with the fish- I was seriously so impressed, again, given that it is a brewery. An absolute must visit in Asheville with great outdoor and indoor seating - outdoor dog friendly and fantastic service.

In short, we had a good time here and would recommend! We ordered: - Beer flight Pub Exclusive: as someone that doesn't like beer flavor much, my favorite from this flight is Tangerine Dreamsicle. It's almost like a fruity cider. - Zero proof with vodka: the Zero proof drink comes with no alcohol. You can add any alcohol you like to it. Our server picked Vodka. I like the drink flavor but I didn't like the alcohol. I might have liked it with rum more. - Ashville hot chicken sandwich: paid an extra $2.5 to switch to sweet potato fries. It was delicious (maybe on the expensive end but at least it was good). We wished it had some extra stuff like Funkatorium does - Sweet potato fries: love it!! For $5, you get quite a big portion. I'd recommend getting this one if you like sweet potatoes. - Besides that, I did have a sample of "If you like pina colada", it was really good. Almost like you're drinking Pina Colada. Our server was excellent!! He was friendly, knowledgeable. We asked him for suggestions and he was happy explaining some menu items for us. Checked in on us here and there to make sure we're good! I like that music isn't loud so we can talk to each other without shouting. Tip: come here on Thursday night for live music and discounted new beer.

Really liked this place. Cool decoration and vibes accompanied with a wide range of great food and drinks. They have two seating areas: indoor and outdoor. Our server was really great at doing his job; He was enthusiastic to help us make our decisions on what kinds of drinks to try and all of other details. He was attentive and did not forget to stop by to check on us ensuring we were good and got everything we needed. The star of the show today was the sweet potato fries which checked all the boxes - crispy & lightly salty outside, soft & sweet inside, especially not greasy at all. Not to mention that the price is quite reasonable. You can order the big portion for only $5. For drinks, after trying Beer flight Pub Exclusive, I really like Tangerine Dreamsicle even though beer is not my thing. Zero proof with vodka was my personal order but recommended by the server. It was pretty good but I guess I might've liked it more with rum than vodka and that's because I don't like strong alcohol taste. Overall, this was a satisfying experience while vacationing in Ashevile with my dear family :)
