I was visiting mt ashland over the weekend and I was looking for a good mexican food place, someone told me about taqueria picaro, I called to order my food, I got 6 carne asada 6 adobada aka alpastor this people in oregon they called it alpastor, down south in california we call the kind of meat adobaba and is red and juicy in san diego okay. But anyways I got my food from this taqueria in ashland oregon. The worse tacos I have ever tasted. The meat was so dry the tortillas were hard didn't tasted like a real mexican food. Traditional mexican food. This is my second time going to Mt ashland for snowboarding for my kids. All this people who say something good about this place they are high or drunk. They don't know about good traditional mexican food. I'm from san diego california and we have the best mexican food. I also found out that the owner of this place he is from texas, of course he doesn't know good mexican food, he have texmex food. Not good at all. I was in Fort hood texas and I couldn't find any good mexican food either. I would like to invite the owner to my casa in san diego, so I can teach him real mexican food. Not spicy okay, because I don't like spicy. I wish I can have my money back from this place. But they told me they can't reimbursed me. I would not recommend this place at all. But I guess because I know a real taste of mexican food. All this white people here they don't know real mexican food, that's why they say that they love it. But everyone is different. My amigos would you guys like to taste a real mexican food go to San Diego california, Google la querencia in...
Read moreWe had a $53 order several weeks and took our food home. We had ordered 15 tacos for my partner and I and our 3 kids. The tacos were so dry we could hardly swallow them! The meat was dry and the corn tortillas were so dry! We were so hungry and didn't feel like cooking so we just forced ourselves to eat. We then realized that some of the tortillas had mild on them! I couldn't believe it! After eating these terrible tacos and then finding mold on them I was pissed! They also but cheese on our beans and rice after asking them not to. And a tablespoon worth of guacamole cost $2.50! I went back to talk to someone about the situation and ended up talking to the girl who took our order. She was very rude and the cook came out and told us they make there tortillas fresh every day. Not true! She gave me a partial refund after making me wait while she stood there and took the orders of about 5 other groups of people. She told me to sit down and I said I would wait right there thinking it wouldn't take that long. Th at didn't even give us a proper refund for the taco's! The pork tacos tasted like tuna! I am not pleased! On the other hand th st have great nachos though they often don't out enough toppings on leaving you with just chips to eat. The margaritas are pretty good! Seems like every other time we order from there though they mess up the order. The after hours taco stand has always served us well! Great moist tacos at a good price with...
Read moreGetting blindsided today, Mother's Day, without warning from Taqueria Picaro's 40%, yes forty percent increase on their street tacos isn't cool at all! Feeling gouged after I asked the attendant if $18.50 was a mistake for two [Al Pastor tacos, as "one order item", one cheese Quesadilla & a small bag of greasy chips]. Rip Off, just a rip off. $18,50, over-priced for certain for three order items.
When the attendant answered my question, he volunteered, "yeah, there's been some controversy over the price increases." No, really!? The 'street' tacos here were just $2.50, [now the same taco is $3.50], as my wife loves the place, and I enjoyed their food. But when pricing increases by 40% - it makes your wallet drain, and feels not worth it, regardless of how good the food may be. After thinking about it on the drive out of Ashland, the very point we went there today, and listening to my Wife tell me that, "with all the losses people are facing, it makes it not affordable to frequent a place that raises their pricing nearly 50%." She is right. I feel as a consumer who is loyal, courteous and wants to invest in local business, raising your prices by 40% is a bad idea and hurts customers wallets, especially now with such economic...
