The baked goods I purchased first time around (chocolate peanut butter muffin & brownies) had weird chunks of inedible hard pieces in them I had to spit out. Something wasn't mixed correctly but they still tasted good. Even stranger yet the owner denies having pistachio brownies below despite multiple customer pics of brownies in other reviews. On 5/4 I purchased two chocolate muffins w/ brown icing on them that sure tasted like peanut butter to me. Either way thanks for the response but making out like Vida didnt make the products I purchased? Cmon... I scrolled down to pics from last year and see brownies and the very muffin I purchased! I came back again and had no issues, but there was a long piece of black hair baked into my pesto focaccia. Not thrilled about that, but was impressed with the consistency of that item. The service sucks. Both times I've been in the staff has been disinterested in being even remotely helpful. Might try the other gluten free bakeries in area next time see how...
Read moreSo happy to have a gluten-free bakery right downtown now. The Brazilian cheese bread is so delicious. They make it in many different forms. You can get it as bagels, rolls, focaccia, rounds, sandwiches, etc. This was our first time going so my wife and I had to try a few different things: I got a caprese sandwich which was super fresh, my wife got a portabella focaccia which she loved, we shared an apple souffle which was super moist and the apples were so tender, and we brought a bag of croutons home that we had on salad for lunch and they're like goldilocks croutons (not too hard, not too soft, just right). I got a cappuccino which was just average (not a bad thing) and my wife got a matcha latte which was really good and smooth, not chalky or bitter at all like we've had other places. We'll definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite. Can't wait til they start...
Read moreMy college age daughter and I stopped at Vida yesterday for breakfast before heading home from a quick overnight stay in Ashland. We both generally try to avoid gluten. The banana chia pancakes were excellent, the golden milk had an interesting background flavor that I've never had in the many golden milks I've consumed (they're my go-to drink) - I loved it. My daughter's matcha was wonderfully earthy. We grabbed an assortment of cookies, cupcakes, and other treats for the road - all exceptional. These don't taste like "normal" Durham wheat baked goods, they taste much better, with a richness and depth of flavor that I have yet to achieve in my own GF baking, or experience in any of the numerous GF baked goods I've consumed. I highly recommend this quaint spot, whether you're GF or not. Service was also fantastic. I would consider making a special half-day drive to Ashland...
