If you find yourself in Green Bay and your taste buds are itching for some authentic BBQ flavors, Parker John’s BBQ and Pizza is your go-to destination. Visiting twice during my stay in town, each experience was a delightful dive into a world where BBQ is not just food, but a culture.
Walking into Parker John’s, you're immediately struck by the vibrant atmosphere. The decor is a mix of irreverence and dedication to the art of BBQ, creating a space that has as much soul and personality as the food they serve.
Now, let's talk about the food. The highlight of our visits had to be their root beer on tap - served in a whopping 25oz mug, it’s a fresh, frothy delight that complements any dish. But, the real stars of the show are the BBQ dishes themselves. The BBQ sampler, featuring their take on dry rub ribs and the melt-in-your-mouth burnt ends, is a testament to their mastery of the grill. These dishes are a must-try for any BBQ enthusiast.
While the main courses hit high notes, the chili side dish didn't quite sing in the same harmony, falling a bit short of the otherwise high standards set by the rest of the meal.
The house BBQ sauces, authentic and flavor-packed, deserve a special mention. They add just the right zest to your meal, enhancing the rich flavors of the meats.
The service at Parker John’s adds to the overall exceptional experience. Ernesto, our waiter, was a gem. His pleasant demeanor and attentive service truly exemplified what outstanding hospitality looks like.
On our return visit, we dove into their appetizers, particularly the nachos with their to-die-for cheese sauce. It’s Wisconsin, after all, so expectations were high, and they did not disappoint.
Although I’m not much of a drinker, the bustling bar scene caught my eye. The patrons seemed thoroughly to enjoy themselves, with ‘Jingle Juice’ adverts adding a quirky touch to the lively atmosphere.
In conclusion, Parker John’s BBQ and Pizza is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. With its soulful decor, exceptional service, and mouth-watering BBQ, it stands out as a beacon of culinary delight in Green Bay. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and immerse yourself in the flavors and fun that Parker John's...
Read moreThis review was without a doubt 5/5 stars all up until the point that we had an encounter with the manager, Derek. Our server, Kat was one of the best in the business and did an amazing job. Our food was great as always. A little back story on what happened. We were greeted by our server (Kat) who immediately made some great small talk and conversation. At one point in the conversation, it came up that I manage a local restaurant. I told her that if she happened to be looking for an extra hours, that we were currently hiring even if it was for 1-2 shifts per week. She seemed excited about the compliment and went to the back to which I am sure she told her co-workers about. The manager, Derek came out to our table and confronted us. The first thing out of his mouth was "so you come here to poach my employees?" I told him that I was not trying to steal any employees but simply told her that if she had free time, I had available shifts. He then proceeded to say that he would be visiting my establishment and start offering my employees jobs. To be honest, it already happens on a regular basis but my employees stick around because I provide them with an atmosphere that makes them want to be there. Out of the entire 2 hours that I was there, this was the only time that I ever saw the manager. The restaurant was full and on a wait. He was not checking on tables to see how their meals were, he was not helping run food or drinks, and he was not offering to help his staff at all. His only concern was the table trying to "steal" his employee. All he has to realize is that if he provides a great atmosphere for his employees, there is no reason to be insecure about them going elsewhere. I tried finding a contact email on the website because I really do not like leaving bad reviews but was not able to. I would love to be able to change this to a 5 star review but it truly starts with finding management who is passionate about what they do so it is reflected down through the staff and into...
Read moreI've been to this location now a few times along with the location down in Menasha. Normally the food is very good and the service along with it. On Father's day this year, I brought my dad and family to celebrate and received some of the worst service ever. She couldn't remember our drinks and we had to remind her for our drinks many times, we had to wave her down about 3 times to get her to take our food order, she brought us the wrong tables food and then when we told her that it was the wrong order, she kept saying that it was the right order even when it wasn't. Then left the wrong food at our table for 10+ minutes (we didn't touch the food because we knew it wasn't ours) and then came back and admitted she was wrong and then brought the cold food sitting at our table to the correct table! After all that nonsense, we finally got our food about 45 minutes after ordering and my sister who asked for a salad never received it after reminding her to bring it to us 4 times! I could continue for a long time about the issues we had with her. For my family of 5, the bill came close to $200.
I called and spoke with the manager Becca about my experience and at the time, I believed she handled it well. I wasn't expecting a handout or a refund but I wanted them to be aware of this waitress. Becca was fine and apologized and offered to send me a gift card which I appreciated. It has now been 3 weeks since I was offered the gift card and still have received nothing. So either she didn't sent it, or it takes over 3 weeks for something from Green Bay to go to Green Bay. I don't appreciated being lied to about a refund just to get me off the phone or to shut up about the service I received.
I will now only be going to the Parker Johns in Menasha because their service is...
