Nestled in the heart of Green Bay, Taste of Istanbul offers a delightful culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Turkish cuisine. Our recent visit to this charming establishment left a lasting impression, particularly with their lamb and chicken shish kebab platter designed for four.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, adorned with decor that hints at the rich cultural heritage of Istanbul. The soft lighting and comfortable seating create an inviting space for both casual diners and special occasions.
We ordered the lamb and chicken shish kebab platter, which was nothing short of spectacular. The platter was generously portioned, enough to comfortably satisfy four hungry diners.
The lamb shish kebabs were incredibly tender, marinated to perfection, and grilled to achieve that ideal smoky flavor. Each bite melted in our mouths, showcasing the quality of the meat and the skill of the chefs. The chicken kebabs were equally impressive—juicy and flavorful, with a delightful seasoning that made them a standout. Accompanying the kebabs were a trio of delicious sauces: the tzatziki was refreshingly cool, balancing the spices of the meat beautifully. The special sauce added a creamy richness, while the spicy tomato sauce brought just the right amount of heat, elevating the dish to a new level.
One of the highlights of the meal was the freshly baked chapati. Warm and fluffy, it was the perfect vehicle for scooping up the delicious kebabs and sauces. The bread had a lovely texture that complemented the dishes rather than overshadowing them, a true testament to the kitchen’s craft. The service at Taste of Istanbul was impeccable. Our server( Ugyar) was attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring our experience was seamless. The staff's genuine enthusiasm for the menu added a personal touch that further enhanced our dining experience. Taste of Istanbul in Green Bay is a gem for anyone craving authentic Turkish flavors. The lamb and chicken shish kebab platter is a must-try, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to quality and taste. With outstanding food, a welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, it’s a dining experience I would eagerly recommend to friends and family. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and indulge in this...
Read moreWe bought a car at a nearby dealership and decided to celebrate with a dinner out. The first task we gave our new car's navigation system was a serendipitous failure. We were looking for Mexican and ended up in front of Istanbul Fish & Seafood (it recently opened at the location of a former Mexican restaurant). "Turkish food in Green Bay? Let's give it a try."
WHAT AN AMAZING STROKE OF GOOD FORTUNE! We had the best dining experience in a long time from start to finish. Food, service, atmosphere: it was all FANTASTIC!
The menu is a bit confusing at first because the portions (and prices) are small and you basically order several dishes (almost like tapas). My wife and I shared everything, which made for a really fun and engaging way to eat. We ordered one salad (Coban), two cold appetizers (Atom and Turkish Spicy Salad), and three main fish dishes (Shrimp with Calamari, Seabass Cutlet, and Angler Roasting). We also had one coffee and split a pistachio baklava (3 pieces) for dessert. Wow; it was all so good and filled us up just right with fresh, healthy food. Bill came to $60. I haven't had a restaurant meal this satisfying in a long time, even when we spent twice as much. Istanbul has a Dinner for Two option for $65. We decided to order a la carte because the special comes with drinks and we prefer water; we also didn't think we wanted dessert at the start (dessert is also part of the special). In hindsight, the Dinner for Two is a great value and we'll probably do that next time. That baklava is awesome and was the hardest thing to share (because it was so good).
I was fortunate to visit Turkey a couple times while I was on active duty in the Navy and have always judged Turkish restaurants in America against a very high standard. Nothing ever measured up....until now. Something about the food we had at Istanbul brought back all my great memories of Turkey. It was a special moment and definitely a fun way to remember picking up our new car.
We live 30 miles away but definitely will be going back. If I'd known about Istanbul before, we wouldn't have been looking for Mexican in the...
Read moreCouple of buddies and I stopped in after a long day on the bikes. looking over the menu it was kinda incomplete with just a card insert for non seafood items. The server stated that there were items they have not added to the menu yet. Stated chicken, beef Shish, wings and rib. We figured we would try 3 different meats, Which comes with the rice the humus etc. Each plate was $14 to 15. The server suggested a combo platter which would come with three meats rice, hummus etc and would feed three people. It was not listed on the menu but we figured why not prob a deal rather than paying for three individual plates. the food came when it arrived it had a poorly made makeshift tin foil basket on fire. It honestly seemed tacky I asked the server they said it was there just for display. The amount of food that arrived was pretty good, mixed herb chicken, beef rice etc. Seemed likely it was about the same as three individual plates. The food was actually kind of bland. Mid to average compared to other Mediterranean places I've been. But this is where the kicker is. After finishing our meal the server brought us our bill, it was $105 for a sample platter & 3 sodas. This was ridiculous. Has three individual plates would have been about $45. Judging by the other people that were there And looking at their individual plates. We didn't really receive anything more it was just combined on one platter. To me I didn't understand how the price over doubled for the same amount of food. The platter and the tacky makeshift tinfoil bucket definitely doesn't make it worth more money. Also the server should have disclosed the price. Being that it was not actually on the menu and was over double the amount as the combined price listed to get 3 individual plates. I personally feel we were finessed. As we had already eaten and obviously are going to pay. We're not unreasonable people. We just definitely would never come back. I feel taken...
