This was my first time ever trying Macs. My family raves about how good it is, so I decided to give it a try. Soâ after a 4 hour drive to get to the nearest location in Green Bay , we finally get there and all 4 of us in my party order food. We quickly finished eating, and realized that we could all eat a bit more. (Thatâs how great the food was too!) We ordered two more dishes to share, and went back to our table on the patio. We got about two bites into the new dishes, at 8:00pm. It was then that the so called âmanagerâ Anna came and began to lock the front door to the patio where we were seated. We happened to notice and inquired about what she was doing. She became very argumentative and told us that we should have been told that she was leaving at 8 and is the only one with a key to that door, so she had to lock it. We went back in to get a to go box, and a refill before Anna locked us out, and then sat and finished our meal on the patio. We were then forced to walk all the way around the seemingly endless building. We had to stop back in through the back door to use the restroom, and I spoke with the nice young lady at the counter who informed me that this was corporateâs policy. So I ask you: do you want to eat at an establishment where people like Anna come and lock you (a paying customer) outside an hour before they close, because it is âcorporateâs policyâ? I know I donât! This was sadly my first and last time eating here. I give the food a 5/5 star rating, but the terrible experience has ruined it for me and my family, and we will...
Read moreTo start, you can never go wrong with MACS. There is simply no other way to put it, MACS is the absolute best mac and cheese restaurant we have ever visited. Their employees are always quick, kind, courteous, and attentive. The facilities are kept clean and organized, there is plenty of seating space so you can choose a booth or a regular table if you prefer. A nice large and open ordering space as you walk in which allows plenty of room for other patrons to get drinks, wait in line if needed, pick up their orders, and there are even more booths up front. Parking is easy as the lot has plenty of spaces to accommodate even on busier days. The food itself is consistently great. While we typically just order the Original (on the right side of the picture), this time we ordered the Buffalo Mac as well. The bleu cheese has a stronger taste so be advised if you are picky on that, but the buffalo and chicken blend very well with the mac and cheese base. With the Original, it is always a nice and creamy mac and cheese, which pairs well with the crostini - which you get two pieces of per Mac Daddy ordered. Other favorites include the Chipotle Chicken Mac and the Memphis Mac. A must stop for anyone who enjoys...
Read moreI stopped in for some quick take out for a midweek lunch, and while the decor is beautiful, the food left a lot (!) to be desired. They bill themselves as a fast casual macaroni and cheese place, and their menu looks very interesting with a lot of very interesting Mac and cheese choices. I was excited to finally give them a try after driving past many times.
I tried their simplest dish - their basic, bog standard mac and cheese (a cheddar and mozzarella blend). The pasta was cooked well, but their was very little cheesiness, or creaminess, to the dish. It tasted like pasta with a smattering of cheddar cheese thrown in top, but given a nice browning. I'm picky about mac and cheese, so it's difficult to impress me, but this was just not good or worth the price paid. The mozzarella added a nice stringiness to the dish, but it was lacking in that decadent, creamy, and absolute cheesiness that good mac and cheese has.
Unfortunately, MACS is not a place I would stop in at again when there are other choices available for some quality...
