39 Degrees — Restaurant in Aspen

39 Degrees at the W Hotel is not reliable for reservations. I made a reservation online ahead of time on Opentable for my friend’s birthday party celebration and secured it with a credit card. The evening before the reservation I started receiving multiple phone calls without a voicemail from a CO phone number. It was the W cancelling our reservation for 8 people for tomorrow because they would be closed for a private party. Totally unprofessional. They had a last minute buyout? I bet they just forgot to block the date on opentable. Do you know how difficult it is to find a table in Aspen for 8 people last minute? Close to impossible. A manager should at least had apologized properly. But it was “sorry guys, we have a buyout tomorrow and have to cancel your reservation, bye.” An example of poor...

This place is incredible! Absolutely beautiful and in a gorgeous location at the base of the mountain. The food is delicious with both gluten-free and vegan options already on the menu. I’ve eaten dinner here twice already in my 4 days in Aspen. The chef, Alexis, is really talented. He understands how to balance intense and beautiful and diverse flavors across hearty bison chili, Korean fried cauliflower, and Baja miso cod tacos. The prices seem almost unfair in how affordable this restaurant is for the quality you’re getting. Also come take photos here for sure. It’s super cute and lends itself well to photo ops. This place should be gone. Logistics: they don’t have a working phone number or a website? Drinks: 20 mins to get a glass of wine. Got my wine and the glass legit stuck to my hand it was so dirty. Bartender was hammered. Also, saw a different table get a beer poured on them because the server poured the beer like an 18 year old in a glass and half the beer foamed over.
