Stopped by for lunch while visiting Aspen and stumbled across this place. Wanted something casual and chill and this met that standard. Here are my takeaways
Environment This is a casual, divey type sports bar located underground right in the heart of downtown Aspen. Seems like a ordinary local bar with a lot of regular customers. It's straight to the point and not much to it.
Service My service was okay. The bartender helped me most of the time and was pretty attentive and friendly. However a server did come in and seemed to replace his role but decided not to serve me while serving every single other person in the small bar. She would literally walk right by me without checking on me. I didn't want to jump to conclusions but I was the only person of color in the bar and it was a bit odd that she checked on every single person in the bar except for me. Eventually the bartender came back around and i was able to get my bill and leave but I'm not sure what would have happened if he didn't come back around.
Food and Drinks I had a simple burger and tater tots. No thrills but they got the job done and this food is a lot cheaper than most things you can get in Aspen. So if you're looking for something a little bit cheaper but pretty good this is your place.
Overall This place has potential to be a great casual low key and down to earth place but I do have concerned that they can be some racial bias when it comes to service. This is the reason I give it two stars. It made me pretty uncomfortable and took away from the experience. The food was fine and very casual and good for the cheaper side of Aspen which is...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I can. I tried calling in to place an order. Phone didn’t work the many times I called. I walked in to a very rude person. I asked him if I could get two orders of fish tacos. He was frustrated with me for no reason. Is it because I’m not white, a girl with a hijab? I asked him how many tacos do I get per order. He put his arms up and said how many much you want. I said I’ll do two fish tacos and a fish and chips. I asked him again how many tacos is it per order and he said how many much you want. I said ok, I’ll get 3 tacos per order. He turned around and said in a loud voice, his eyebrows up “YOU WANT 6 FISH TACOS?!” I was very intimidated after that because from the very beginning he wasn’t even having eye contact with me and was so very rude in his body language and the way he spoke. I said “okay, sorry, can you make it 4 tacos.” He got visibly annoyed with me. I then said “okay, you know what, cancel my order, you’re being very rude.” He said “no problem!” And that was it. I was so excited to explore Aspen and I came back to the car in tears. I didn’t do anything wrong and he was plain rude to me for no reason. He ruined my day. If you’re reading this- the white guy in the counter with a cap- learn to talk to customers, learn to smile, learn to welcome and learn to be friendly. Whatever hate you have in your heart, leave it because this world is too short to be bitter like that. Be...
Read moreFood was pretty abysmal and the service was even worse. I asked the waitress who seated me to wipe the dirty table she put the menus on and she abruptly walked away and came back to wipe it. Then I asked her how her day was and she gave a very short “good” and walked away. It was like I angered her for asking for a clean table.
Then she proceeded to ignore me for the next 15 minutes (no drink order or water) while serving other people who came in after me. I made eye contact with her repeatedly during this time to summon her over but she continued ignoring me. Once the rest of my party showed up she also failed to take their orders in a timely manner.
I had a very mediocre gyro and “steak” taco. This tasted like county fair food. My fries were like cardboard and were overcooked and hardly edible. When I asked for new fries the waitress questioned me “well those have been sitting out a while”.
Finally, when I alerted the staff there was no soap in the bathroom they said they’d take care of it. When my friend went to the restroom they asked him to install the new soap in the dispenser! This place is an absolute joke and I regret taking my friends here.
All the other reviews about rude staff are totally accurate. Please avoid this place at all costs. I should have walked out after the first interaction with the waitress. They don’t deserve your...
