I attended an event here last night - the place is so cute, and cozy, & the event was awesome! Beer is reasonably priced and overall, the staff was friendly and kind.
I opened a tab at the downstairs / outside window. Me and my friends ordered several rounds on my tab. Once they closed the window, I want inside and asked the bar tender if she could see the tab I opened downstairs. She could, and I ordered another round. I came back once more to order another beer and close my tab. I asked the upstairs bartender to charge a different card and she ran it, I signed my $110 bill and left a tip. This is where my 3-star review comes from...she and another staff member then spend 20-30 minutes searching for the original card I had opened the tab with downstairs. They asked the bartender working the downstairs window and she lied saying she never opened a tab for me and then a person whom I assume is a manager told me "we don't think we have your card." I explained the above timeline to him and how it doesn't make any sense to say I didn't start a tab downstairs when the upstairs bartender was able to see my tab and continue to order against it. Those 2 things cannot both be true. I never received an apology, was never offered a beer since I finished it while waiting for 30 minutes for them to try to find my car that they lost instead of spending time with my friends, and now I have to go through the annoying process of getting a replacement and changing all the numbers on every account. To make matters worse, I have a trip this weekend and won't have my debit card while...
Read moreWe visited the King Center and Ebenezer Baptist Church with a group of 75 educators from Big Picture Learning. We knew after a long day of inspiring learning, we would be hungry, thirsty and need a place to debrief our collective experience. We contacted Ian from Georgia Beer Garden in advance to see if we could bring the whole group. Ian was incredibly helpful, he helped us set up our menu and showed us great patience as we had a couple of changes in our plans. When we got there (a little early) we were met by two amazing bartenders (The Chelseas!), they set us up with nice cold water and brought out all of the food when it was ready. We had BBQ Chicken, sausages, grilled veggies, fries and all kind of toppings. 75 hungry people were incredibly satisfied by the delicious meal. There was so much food we had "To- Go plates" for back at the hotel. If you are ever visiting the historic King Center, you must stop by the Georgia Beer Garden. ...
Read moreI tried the following:
A hibiscus lime gose (never heard of a gose and thought I’d give it a shot. It was delicious: sour with a hint of salt.)
Bourbon and ginger (just a standard liquor drink, but it was well-made. A lot of bars get this wrong.)
I have to say, though, that the most impressive thing I tried was a food item. The bbq eggplant sandwich was so good I’d eat it again and again! The eggplant was cooked well, and it had a delicious, smoky flavor. The bread it came served on was also delicious. I also tried the buffalo cauliflower, which was tasty as well. I wanted to try the okra (chips, maybe?), but they were sold out. I’m guessing that means they’re good! Next time.
I couldn’t give this place 5 stars, because I came with people who were older and in need of handicapped parking. The establishment doesn’t provide that, so it was a bit of a hassle and an...
