Let me start off by saying that I've been a regular at Atlanta Fish market for years and have spent thousands of dollars supporting this restaurant, however the disrespect I received last night from the GM is disgusting and classless! I had dinner reservations for 2 at 9:15 for Valentine's Day dinner, when we arrived the place was like a zoo from the outside in valet to the inside where there was a long line just to check in. Once I got checked in with the hostess which took about 10-12 minutes we were told they were running about 20 minutes behind (which was understandable because it was a holiday) they had at least 30 people waiting to be seated and about 30 people in line waiting to check in. At 9:40 we went to the hostess to see when we'd be seated and were told about 15 more minutes. The host (who I now know is the GM) was calling out names but he had a foreign accent so at times it was hard to understand him, I thought my name had been called so we approached the hostess stand and was told by the guy that he didn't call us, so I lost the seat I was sitting waiting in and ended up standing up in 6 inch heels waiting to be called. At 9:55 I asked the host were they not honoring any reservations at all tonight but was met with attitude and told I was yelling at him, which was an absolute lie, so my guy intervened and stated that I was not yelling at all and told the host to calm down and control himself because he seemed very agitated and overwhelmed. About 5 minutes later I witnessed a guy standing next to me tell the the host that he had a 9:30 reservation and wanted to know when he'd be seated...DO YOU KNOW THAT THE MANAGER sat that guy within 3 minutes of him asking while I had 9:15 reservations and it was 10pm and I still hadn't been seated! So I leaned back over to the hostess stand to get an understanding of why that guy was seated before us when his reservation was 15 minutes after mine, but was told by the Host/GM that I was harassing him!! I was in total disbelief as well as humiliated, but it didn't stop there. Once he said I was harassing him, because I called him out for seating the guy who's reservation was after mine, I was in shock (how is it harassment when I had 9:15 reservations and it's now 10pm, and I was trying to get some type of clarity on when we'd be seated) that I was being spoken to in such a manner, when I'm a longtime regular there, but being treated like I was insignificant. So I asked the host was he the General manager and his exact words were "it doesn't matter" so at that point my guy intervened and said "it does matter, and stop talking to her like that". Now the host and my guy were going back and forth in a heated exchange, and my guy was telling him that the hostess told us we'd be seated in a few minutes 20 minutes ago, but the host wasn't interested in hearing us! So I started asking for the GM (mind you we still had no idea that the host was also the GM) and kept asking the host for his name, which he refused to give, so at that time a security guard approached the host stand, while the host (who's name I now know is Ice or something like that) and I were going back and forth because he was being extremely disrespectful, then he had the audacity to yell to the security guard "to get them out of here because I don't like liars"! That statement alone was the most disrespectful thing I've heard from the representative of any restaurant I've ever patronized! How dare you call us liars! What did we lie about? We were walked out by the security guard, and the security told us that the host was the GM and that his name was Ice. After we walked out another couple walked out saying they were also leaving because they were disrespected after trying to ask one question! That guy is the most disrespectful, unprofessional GM I’ve ever encountered in life and I eat out regularly! You can't disrespect customers in that capacity and expect for them to return! Being rude to guests instead of being accommodating shows a lot! I won’t return until he’s no longer an...
Read moreI went into the restaurant to pick up take out. First off they couldn’t find my order because the person that took my order over the phone had a man’s name on the bag and the wrong order inside. The General Manager Asikul Mallick came over to bring me the check when I advised him about my order and that the check was wrong he became very irritated we me as if I was the problem. I asked how I could leave a review and this man stood over me like he wanted to attack me and told me I was not to threaten him with a review. At this point I just wanted the information to document my experience and go but he angrily insisted on wanting to fix it but in the same breath wanted to go back and forth. When I told him that I wasn’t going to go back and forth with him and asked for a corporate number he came from around the counter to stand in my face to be more combative. I explained to him that wherever he is from it may be ok to treat women that way but here it is unacceptable. This man then literally invited me outside as if he was about to have a showdown with another man. He then began to raise his voice, curse me out and make a huge scene. His aggressive behavior escalated because he insist that I had called him a racist (which I never did). One of the valets came over I presume to assist him. The crazy part is I never raised my voice or spoke one derogatory remark against him. I only wanted him to take responsibility for their screw up. This man drop the F bomb several times to the top of his lungs and told me that I was a free loader after verbally assaulting me and that I should take my free food and go. This man did everything that was written all over his face during our initial interactions. He was discriminatory to me I believe based on the color of my skin and went to every extreme to humiliate and intimidate me as a woman. This was only my second time visiting the restaurant and both times there was a sense of judgement looming. I guess the more things change the more things stay the same. The emotional intelligence of what I thought should come from a person carrying the General Manger title left me disenfranchised and befuddled. I heard very good reviews on this restaurant so to be treated as though I was a woman from a third world country and then be threatened with the police for some unknown reason to me considering I am the customer and was the one attacked was simply crazy. I would say in dealing with Asikul Mallick understand that his views of women of color is distorted and that you may want to be mindful of his narcissistic behavior along side his strong aggression and discriminatory behavior towards people of color and women. It goes without saying that I...
Read moreWe arrived for my birthday dinner at 5:20pm Sunday, March 2nd. We were seated promptly. The waiter came to our table a few minutes later and asked us what would we like to drink. We ordered water with lemon on the side, iced tea, and straws. He returned with the water but nothing else, and asked what we would like to order. We ordered a Caesar Salad that we wanted to share, two bowls of clam chowder, bread, and asked again for the side of lemon, iced tea, and straws. When our waiter came by we asked again for lemon, tea, and straws. He said he would get our waiter to help us. Whaaat… ten minutes passed when he returned with the iced tea, but no straws, lemon, and no explanation. Then he returned with a plate of salad, which he set in front of me and a bowl of clam chowder that was set in front of my friend. And ask if there was anything else that we would like. I said we need another plate to divide the salad, my bowl of clam chowder, and for the last time May we please have straws for our refreshments. He said he thought we would use the bread plate for the salad. I said I guess we could since we haven’t received any bread yet. But I think we need a larger plate. He said he’ll be right back with the remainder of our order. And he did, along with a gentleman delivering the bread and butter. Atlanta Fish Market is a restaurant I enjoy coming to often. My first experience there a year later was fantastic; great Service and excellent meals. The next time we came for a quick lunch on a Saturday, late afternoon. There aren’t many people there and the main dining area was closed, so we ate in the bar area. We ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. He brought the clam chowder first. It was awful. It tasted like canned Chowder and lots of vegetables but hardly no clams and potatoes. We explained this to the waiter, as we began trying understand how could they gotten this so wrong. The waiter said there is a different chef on weekends and he makes his chowder this way. So we canceled the fish and chips and sent the chowder back. And since then every visit has been a disappointment. I should add that we also ordered fish and chips, the complimentary chefs dessert, and the bread pudding. The fish was I giant fried cod with zero flavor and the chips weren’t their normal fries. These were shoe string potatoes fried too long and zero flavor. And the bread pudding was the only pudding that I ever had that was really bad! It was sooo dense and thick that I could barely get a fork through it and the taste was poorly made and bland. Maybe it’s the weekend where their standards go out the window. Signed...
