Pata Negra in Atlanta is a culinary gem, redefining the Mexican dining experience with each bite and sip. From the moment you enter, you’re transported to a world where every dish and drink is crafted with precision, passion, and a commitment to flavors that excite and satisfy. My evening at Pata Negra was, without exaggeration, one of the best Mexican dining experiences of my life.
The night began with the charcoal martini, a daring drink that immediately set the stage for the journey ahead. Rich, smoky undertones mixed with a hint of sweetness, each sip had me eager for the next surprise on this flavor-packed adventure. Paired with the salsa madre — a delightfully complex blend that elevated every note on my palate — this appetizer and cocktail duo is an impeccable way to kickstart the experience.
Moving to the main courses, we went all out, sampling what felt like everything on the menu. The culinary artistry in each dish made it nearly impossible to pick a favorite, but two stood out as unforgettable highlights: the Poblanas de Pollo and the Carne Sonora. The Poblanas de Pollo was a sensational marriage of flavors, with tender chicken infused with rich, smoky spices and poblano peppers, each bite more delightful than the last. The Carne Sonora, meanwhile, brought a bold depth and richness that lingered, balancing succulent textures with expertly layered spices. It was clear with each taste that the chefs here understand both the tradition and innovation that make Mexican cuisine extraordinary.
The drink menu is equally impressive, with an insane selection of premium tequilas and mezcals that are sure to satisfy connoisseurs and newcomers alike. The variety is simply jaw-dropping, offering a true exploration of Mexico’s spirit culture that complements the food in the most delicious way.
Finally, the dessert course was a revelation. Just like the appetizers and mains, the desserts were crafted to excite and surprise, bringing a vibrant finish to an already impeccable dining experience.
Pata Negra isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an adventure of flavors, textures, and experiences. From start to finish, it offers a spectacular journey that leaves you craving more, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a truly unforgettable Mexican...

What we ate: Salsa Madre ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A spicy and sultry salsa. Probably the most rich and robust salsa we have had in Atlanta. The wood fired tortillas for the salsa were also an amazing bonus!!
Panucho de cochinita pibil ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Three fried corn masa panuchos, chiles secos, shredded pork, black beans, picked red onion. This right here was heaven in your mouth. Someone braised this pork like it was the last supper!! This meat was like butter it was so tender, the accompanying details were just icing on a beautiful meat cake!!
Poblanos de Pollo ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Three enchiladas, crema poblano, poblano peppers, red onion, Pollo crema, rice. This was just beautiful the poblanos weren't over bearing but gave the dish a nice kick that you want. This was such a beautiful and tasty crema sauce. I wish all poblano dishes could be this magnificent!!
Drinks: Cuna de Piedra ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This beautiful cocktail came in a bowl that the bestie had to hold with both hands. It included fresh orange and fruit slices in it.
Tarasco 1907 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Basically an old fashioned made with tequila and mushroom garnish. This drink was a whole show coming under a smoke bowl.... it did not disappoint in the least bit!!
Overall this was an amazing food experience. I'm convinced people who say Atlanta isn't an amazing good city just don't like international foods, because the international food scene in Atlanta gets better every year!! And this place is an example it's top teir, 5🌟, and somewhere we will visit again!!

Read moreThis is among the freshest concepts and best execution for a new restaurant in Atlanta! The interior is all black, with interesting, light fixtures, and the bar is absolutely beautiful! The bar decoration actually has the agave above ground and the roots below ground as the decoration across the top.
Alex took care of us and it’s very clear that he has a strong personal connection to the restaurant, the chef, and the overall vision. David was the manager manager the night we were there, and he was a tremendous host, and likewise connected us with the dishes, and why they are special and what the inspiration was.
The chef is preparing dishes that speak to his upbringing and the food that he had. But please don’t think about this as being a greasy Mexican place. This is high cuisine with very innovative flavors and sublime execution. I could tell you about what we ordered, and how much I loved each of the dishes, but I would suggest coming in and talking to Alex or David and hearing about the dishes. Even looking at the menu won’t do it justice.
I will say that the guacamole was excellent And we also started with appetizers that were fantastic especially one which was a flower tortilla with some beans and then chicken that had been marinated for 24 hours and then roasted for three hours with lots of other goodies. The chicken salad was by all accounts. Excellent, we shared a lot of dishes, so we also had the enchiladas with the Molé sauce. I’m from Texas, and this was the best Molé I’ve ever had. We also had the chicken tacos which were fantastic with lots of fresh items on it. But the really excellent pieces were the steaks, we had both, and they were really well done And super flavorful with sides that were likewise very flavorful. The poblano rice sounds like it would be just rice, but it’s delicious and full flavor!
This is a five star review you can believe! I’m looking forward to going back with a group of guys to go to the bar and hang out with the bartender learning about the...
