I write this out of love for my new home (ATL), and wanting Bell st. to be the best in GA.
Order for 2, ($33.75): pulled chicken burrito w red sauce, cilantro, side sour cream smoked pork XL burrito w chipotle sauce and sour cream guac & chips
I wanted this to taste incredible. I wanted it to match the positivity and excitement of the guy working the register. It did fall short.
I read some other reviews that complained about lack of flavor, and I don’t think that’s the problem exactly.
Here’s where I think they’re stumbling (because they’re doing LOTS right. This is a good spot that could be great).
seasoning is all over the place. Super salty guac, salty chips = sickeningly salty, then in the burritos, unsalted rice/beans neutralizes all the flavor!
Someone just needs to buckle down and be like “here are the measurements/weights for each dish”. Right now seems like they’re eyeballing everything? Not sure. Frustratingly, I couldn’t register smoke or chipotle flavor from my XL burrito.
overall texture of burrito contents was like mashed potatoes. pulled chicken/pork, gummy rice, over cooked pinto beans = eating mush. Leave some life in those beans, or switch to black!
finally, I’m not sold on the “protein” selections. It’s like going to a clothing store and buying a shirt without knowing the size/color/fit. Selfishly, I want to see chicken tinga, carne asada, al pastor, etc. red ain’t a flavor.
I would rate this 0.62 Chilacates*
No pun intended, but you gave the ingredients for a truly outstanding menu, but you’re squandering it with lax execution and overthinking the menu.
Chilacates, in Jamaica Plain/Boston, MA, is not to be topped, and represents 1.0...
Read moreI've been going to Bell Street at Peachtree for the past 6 months or so since I live 1/2 a mile away. Normally really good food with normal service. Today I went and decided to go out on a limb and try the "Friday Tamale Special" along with one taco. To make a long story short, don't venture out into the Tamale world at Bell Street. They're about 2 inches long and have no meat. Honestly for what it is it should be about $2 bucks. But whatever, that's on me, now I know. I took one bite of it and it was cold, not to mention there was literally no pork in it. It was basically cornmeal. Again this was $4.50. I decided to speak with an employee. The first words out my mouth were "I really hate to do this but..." As I was saying that he gave me scathing look. I told him the tamale was nothing like what I expected and he literally flipped out on me and became extremely hostile. He snatched the tamale out of my hand and as I was in the middle of asking him if I could swap it with a taco he said "what do you want"? I said again if I could have a taco instead. He took my tamale around the counter and slammed it down and then proceed to educate me on tamale sizes and to make me feel like I was 2 years old. He was extremely belligerent.
Long story short, I've never been to a restaurant or fast food chain, or really anywhere that serves food, whether it be a McDonalds or Cookout and have been treated that way because of a single bad item.
Hey maybe it's my fault for choosing the wrong item, but instead of diffusing the situation and ensuring a repeat customer, the employee did a great job of ensuring I...
Read moreI recently visited Bells Street Burritos with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From start to finish, the entire dining experience was lackluster and disappointing.
Firstly, the service was extremely slow and inefficient. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, taking forever to take our orders and even longer to deliver our food. It was as if they had no sense of urgency or care for their customers.
When the food finally arrived, I was underwhelmed by the quality. The burrito I ordered was bland and lacked flavor. The ingredients seemed uninspired and lacked any uniqueness that would make it stand out. The meat was dry and overcooked, and the overall taste was forgettable.
Additionally, the portion sizes were extremely small, especially considering the prices charged. I left the establishment feeling hungry and unsatisfied, which is definitely not what I expect from a burrito joint.
Furthermore, the atmosphere was dull and uninviting. The seating area was cramped and uncomfortable, lacking any ambiance or personality. It felt more like a cafeteria than a place where one could enjoy a meal.
To top it off, the prices were ridiculously high for the subpar quality and experience provided. Bells Street Burritos fails to deliver on the value for money aspect, leaving customers feeling cheated and disappointed.
Overall, I would not recommend Bells Street Burritos. The lackluster service, mediocre food, unimpressive portion sizes, and high prices make it a forgettable and regrettable dining experience. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a...
