So me and a friend decide to get something to eat, he tells me about this restaurant I said it sounds interesting, let's go. Knowing it's Father's Day I knew there would be a wait, which I assume would be 20 to 30 minutes. When we get to the restaurant we wait a few minutes to make it to the cashier then place our orders.
We find a seat, I notice a couple next to us waiting so I ask how long had they'd been waiting for their food. They tell me about 20 minutes, their food showed 5 minutes after. So I'm thinking alright about 25 minutes before we get our food. We wait 40 minutes, no food. My friend decides to go check to see what's going on. It's explained to him that they've run out of chicken parmesan and someone was supposed to tell us, which of course no one did. We ask to speak to the manager and she comes over to say the exact same thing. She then asked my friend what he'd like instead, he gives her a new order and she goes back to the kitchen.
We're both thinking that she's going to put our order in front of everyone else's since we've already been waiting for 40 minutes. Unfortunately that doesn't happen, it takes another 36 minutes before our food is delivered by the manager, and she apologizes and says everyone has been waiting a while, my friend then says no we've been waiting over an hour, I chime in and say, we've seen people order after us get their food, eat and leave, she then replies and says she will take care of our desserts. I replied and said we would like a gift cards or something that covers entrees for the next time. She said that they don't have any gift cards or certificates for that, but that she'd check with the owner. At this time I'm thinking the owner will come out and talk to us himself, he doesn't. As we're eating our meals she walks right past us and doesn't say anything.
After we finished our meal I go up to the cashier and express to her that the manager never came back to us. She goes back in the kitchen and talks to the manager and returns to tell us that the manager reiterated that they have no gift cards or certificates. At that time I ask can she write it down on a piece of paper or something. The cashier goes back to the kitchen and returns to tell me that the owner has now responded and said "he's not willing to do anything". I pause for a few seconds in disbelief, then say, WOW, and reply: well tell the owner I will never eat in any of his establishments again and walked out.
Not only did the owner not come out to speak with us, he decided not to comp us anything for their mistake, I was shocked, I've never had that experience in a restaurant and will never ever spend a penny in this place again. Talk about customer no-service as Clark Howard says. If that word is ever added to the dictionary a picture of this guy should...
Read moreStopped by for my first time on a Wednesday lunch to a normal-filled restaurant. Not much of a line but it did take a bit before our food came out. The menu made me feel uncultured and reminded me how little I know about Italian cuisine as I would read the menu description and only recognize half of it. Thanks to Yelp's pictures I was able to see the dishes, so that pretty much dictated what I was going to order.
The three of us split the DIAVOLA, MARGHERITA and the ARRABBIATA. I started off with a side salad that was WAY too saucy and salty. It was a good flavor but it was generously dressed which cause it too be so oily that it was too much.
My main choice was for the Marghetrita because I was was craving something a little more tastier than roasted chicken. This was a nice big piece of flatten fried chicken topped with some fresh cherry tomatoes, basil and melty buffalo mozzarella. Generous amount of tomatoes to help cut the heaviness of the fried chicken. I wish there was more basil and cheese for a balanced dish. The chicken was just a tad too oily, otherwise the juiciness and tenderness were good. This was served with two wedges of roasted potatoes, nothing awesome or bad here. The potatoes were a bit heavy and random here since this was a fried piece of chicken, would have preferred pasta here. The bread was a little tough, even though it was toasted.
The Diavola, this had great flavor as I typically lean toward spicier dishes. The chicken was mostly tender, a bit drier on the edges so not quite as even. The juices/fat/sauce that the chicken was swimming in was so tasty. I wanted to just drink this, I got close as I was soaking the bread in it. It had a kick from the chilis that sometimes went straight to your throat. The Arrabbiata was underwhelming. The pasta felt a little tougher than al dente, and the sauce was lacking. I had Future and Uzi Vert's "Too Much Sauce" in my head to try to mentally compensate for this dish. It got to a point where i just dipped it in the Diavola's juices for more flavor. If they weren't skimping here, I would have loved this dish because I love pasta.
Great flavors and fresh ingredients. Many of the dishes weren't executed as well as they could of, either too much sauce or too little. There aren't many Italian chicken options so this place is rather unique. It a nice place for a date but also casual enough to stop by with some friends. They offer delicious foods at a reasonable price because the portions are filling, but there is always room for dessert, especially when it's right...
Read moreWent here to celebrate a family birthday. The food was great. Food arrived in a timely manner; however, if you are not familiar with their concept you might not get what you expect. When you walk in the front you can select a beverage, there is Peroni beer, a limited selection of wines as well as juices/sodas/water. All are Italian. You have the option to order single serving or family serving for most items, which will serve 4-6 depending on how hearty the appetites are. Menu and descriptions are in Italian so if you are not sure of ingredients, etc. ask or so your research. We ordered a Chicken Milanese single entree that our party of 6 shared as an appetizer. We ordered a family style pasta dish, Al Forno and a house special, Amalfi Chicken. We also ordered a family salad, which has great fresh greens (arugula, endive, etc.) with a side of their house made vinaigrette, shaved parmigiana and 2 loaves of bread. Now, this is where it is different. There is no table service, you get paper napkin wrapped plastic utensil pack and there are help yourself plastic cups. You do get ceramic bowls and plates. You can bring your own wine or beer. Our party of six was comfortable enough but the space is industrial and not very cozy. So take note for eating in the restaurant because all family size portions were served as if to go and there were no serving utensils, just your plastic tableware. The Pollo Specialita Amalfi was basically a whole small chicken cut in 1/8th portions with a clever and bone-in. It had a wonderful broth with the castelvetrano olives, onion and large potatoes quartered into large wedges. If we had taken it home, no problem but serving and eating with the small plastic ware was a challenge. So if eating in, bring some silver ware. We walked across the street after dinner and had some great gelato in their gelateria. Bringing our own wine made it a much more cost effective dining for a party of 6. The quality of the food was great but I just wish I had understood their concept ahead of time. I highly recommend the food and getting it to go. Our eat-in experience would have been better, if I had known ahead what to expect. I read about wine in a review ahead of time so was...
