I’ve been a loyal customer at St. Germain in Buckhead Village for years. It used to be a place where I felt comfortable bringing my dog and connecting with the community. Unfortunately, my experience with the owner has made the space feel increasingly unwelcoming.
My dog, who is well-behaved and has not caused issues in months, was singled out after one incident where he barked and interacted with another dog. Other dogs bark in this dog-friendly café without consequence, yet I was told—through a supervisor, not directly—that my dog needed to be “better trained.” The owner has avoided speaking to me directly but has repeatedly sent messages and talked negatively about me through employees, which feels dismissive and targeted.
On top of that, I was told I could no longer even request a simple cup of hot water unless I purchased something else. The tone in which this was brought up felt accusatory, as though I had done something wrong, when I’ve always supported the business and paid for my drinks.
What concerns me most is the pattern: a lack of direct communication, different standards applied to me and my dog compared to others, and past comments that point toward bias. As a Black woman with a pit bull, I cannot ignore how much of this feels rooted in prejudice.
I’ve invested a lot of time and money here, but I no longer feel safe or welcome in a place that treats...
Read moreFantastic experience in every way! Great location tucked away in Buckhead Village. Lovely quaint little shop. Everyone in the shop smiled, made eye contact and said hello when we came, and you could tell they were sincere. Wonderful selection of pastries and coffees. We went it to have a canale and espresso and ended up getting a couple different mousse, cheesecake and torts to go - they just looked irresistible. Service was prompt, attentive and patient while we agonized over our choices. We snacked at the counter and they packaged up our other items to go. Last fall I was in Paris and scoured the city for canale, and never found anything that was even close to the caliber of this shop.
They were preparing heart shaped boxes for Valentine’s and I’m sure they do a robust business. It just felt like a place where you could sit for an hour at the counter enjoying some coffee and reading a good book.
When we left, everyone looked up, made eye contact, smiled, and sincerely thanked us for coming in (I am being so explicit about the greetings because it is amazing how often I go into a shop and nobody even acknowledges our existence).
This is a must visit shop when you are in the area. And it is worth a special trio if you are not...
Read moreSaint Germain is the kind of place that makes you seriously question whether you should just abandon your current life plans and become a full-time pastry connoisseur. I stopped in for a cappuccino and some pastries, and let me tell you — it was an absolute life decision well made. The cappuccino was rich, smooth, and made so perfectly that I briefly considered standing up and giving a slow clap right there at the counter. And the pastries? Each one looked like it should be on the cover of a fancy French magazine… and somehow they tasted even better than they looked. Flaky, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth goodness at its finest.
The shop itself feels like you stumbled into a little corner of Paris — elegant, cozy, and just the right amount of fancy without making you feel like you need to fake a French accent to fit in. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or planning to sit and savor every bite (which you should), Saint Germain is a true gem in Buckhead Village. Trust me: life is too short to skip the...
