Server was a very sweet girl, when we saw her. The hostess sat us (party of 2), after which it took 40 minutes for a server to come up to us. We were ready to order everything so we did (drinks, entrees, and even dessert). It took a half hour to get our 2 waters with lemon. It took another half hour to get the server over to refill our waters and 10 mins after that the burger and chicken sandwiches came out. They were good but nothing special. Nothing worth waiting almost 2 hours for. The table next to us had even gotten up to leave because they had driven three hours to get here and it was taking an hour and a half now for them at that point and they didn’t wanna wait any longer for their food to come out. Our server came out maybe 10 minutes after we were finished eating and asked if we were ready for the apple pie dessert, we said yes, she asked if we wanted it warmed up, we said yes, she went to go and get it. About 10 minutes after that it came out cold, but the outside was ever so warm so you know it was a throw in the microwave to dethaw situation, but it wasn’t left in long enough to actually warm it up. After this really long and honestly not worth it at all experience, we couldn’t find the server to pay the bill even though we had asked her for the check three separate times now so we just went up to the bar to pay. We were then waiting for so long for a bartender to come over for him to then inform us that it’s cash only And then tell me to go and pay the Server not him and I said I would love to if I knew where she was so I left the cash on the counter with the check and we left.
The atmosphere also feels very dirty. It’s a dive that’s jam packed with a million Christmas decorations. Very cute and festive yes, however it’s a dive where clearly no one that works there likes their job and just need cash therefore all of these decorations are definitely not being dusted, and the place is so small you’re on top of dusty Santa Claus with your food.
We come to Atlantic City often and I can say that we will not come back to this specific restaurant. There are so many other better dining options with better service, better food and a more...
Read moreWhile visiting AC, we were looking for a place to take the family for dinner, and an Irish pub sounded great. Walking in, the atmosphere was wonderful, really old, historic building with low ceilings and wood trim with wall to wall antique posters.
Once we had a menu in hand, the feeling quickly wore off as it appeared there's no Irish food on the menu other than a corned beef sandwich, and really no dinner options either. It's really just boardwalk food, chicken fingers, crab cakes, fish and chips, wraps ect. After a long day we ordered anyway and while the food tasted ok, it was obviously mostly prepared/frozen items. I asked the waiter about the desserts and he admitted they were frozen as well.
Which brings me to the waiter, a younger guy, and I realize it's off season and maybe he was inexperienced but really not a great waiter at all. Our food was brought out with no napkins/condiments/silverware and I had to repeat my requests every time he visited.
It was honestly very disappointing, and I guess we should have known better with it being so close to the boardwalk but I assumed a building with such provenance and good reviews would have at least a few Irish dishes, and maybe a couple dinner options! Others appeared to agree, as a table for 2 seated by us left after they looked at the menu. Another tourist couple sat down as we were leaving and right away they began commenting on the lack of Irish food. The pub side was jumping though so if you want to come for drinks and music, it definitely would be a great place, just don't expect...
Read moreCompared to the majority of other reviews for 'The Irish Pub' posted here, my experience on Sun, July 1st was very subpar. I understand that they were busy earlier in the evening, but that's no excuse for our server to be very matter of fact & on the verge of being rude. The normal Irish Pub menu had been cut down to only a few items, about 6, being available for order. I ordered the 'fish & chips' expecting a wonderful platter of deep fried cod and crispy, golden fries. What I got was what I can only describe as 1 small piece of fish and 3 fish nuggets, 1 small pill cup sized container of tarter sauce and another of cole slaw (3 bites and it was gone), and a decent size portion of fries. If it hadn't been for the portion of fries, I would've left there hungry and went elsewhere seeking something additional to eat. Our server was at our table a total of four times, once to take our drink order, returned with drinks and took food order, brought our food, and then the check. No checking to see how our food was or to see if we needed additional beverages. We told her to keep the change as a tip because we hypothesized that it would be 20-30 minutes before she would bring us the change based upon our experience to that point. I won't be returning to the Irish Pub, there are too many other places to eat in Atlantic City that serve better food in a more friendly manner. Really...
