Quality of Food: If I were to compare this BBQ location to others I have had in NJ thus far, it is probably the best. The Brisket was tender and the sausage had flavor. I especially enjoyed the cornbread and honey glazed biscuit. However, the mac and cheese you can find at Panera Bread, beans you can get from a can and the chicken was dry to the point I needed to drink after every bite. I am from Texas so I have high expectations for BBQ food and while the food was decent, it was not spectacular and certainly not smoked (or what they claim as Texas BBQ).
Quality of Service: Our hostess was polite and our waitress was excellent. I always forget to write down their names because our waitress seemed like she was waiting on the whole restaurant and did not keep us waiting long for anything we needed. I did not ask much about the menu since I knew exactly what I wanted to sample but she seemed confident in her knowledge of the menu and liked that I knew what I wanted.
Environment & Ambiance: The music choice was interesting. I guess I'm glad it was not cliché country music but I also did not expect to walk into pop/R&B/Dj techno mix. Also, the type of material the tables and walls are made out of are easily smudged/dirtied so it is difficult to keep clean and makes the place a little dingy. Otherwise, the décor was tastefully selected and the floors were pretty cool to see (I am hoping they are original flooring and not made to look old).
Pricing and Concerns: This is where we lose the two stars. As I said before, if I were to compare this BBQ place to others I have tried in the state of NJ, it would be top of the list. However, by no means was the portion sizes or quality of food worth the $80+ we paid for two people.
Comment and Recommendation: Would I recommend this location to others? If you haven't had great BBQ than yes - this is a good place to go to. I would especially suggest the smoked sausage over the other meat options we had on the table. Would I suggest it over the other locations in Tropicana? Probably not and I don't think I'll be going back to try again with the hefty price tag. Also a comment to the owners - you don't automatically put BBQ sauce on...
Read moreAfter seeing the Irish restaurant closed down, I was really disappointed because I had wanted to come back and eat there again for years, but after seeing that it was a smokehouse & tavern that took its place, I was really looking forward to coming here. Unfortunately, I left feeling a little bit disappointed.
For starters, the service was 5/5. Our server, Natalia was attentive and came back often to check on us, but it's also worth noting that my party was the only one in the entire restaurant for a while and when people did start showing up, it was only about 5-10 people.
The atmosphere was another 5/5. I really liked the lighting and wooden furniture. It definitely felt like many of the taverns I've visited in New York.
The food, however was a 3/5. I ordered the Stay Wild Platter which comes with onion rings, hushpuppies, wings, tater tots, and chicken tenders. The onion rings, hushpuppies, and tater tots were great. The chicken tenders pretty much tasted like frozen chicken tenders from Tyson or something that just got popped in an oven. They weren't bad, but nothing special. As for the wings, I got nashville hot and they were just okay. Nashville hot is one of my favorite sauces ever, but I don't feel like they did it justice here. It wasn't BAD, but they were nowhere near as good as other nashville hot wings I've had.
I also tried their Memphis rub rotisserie chicken and for something that looks like it has tons of flavor, it was pretty bland. The upside is that they have two sauces on each table, one is Wild Honey Barbeque and the other is like a honey mustard sauce, but I didn't expect that their chicken would need it. Like if a steak needs steak sauce, it's not a good steak. Same rule applies here, in my opinion. And generally speaking, for a place that sells barbeque/smokehouse food, I would figure that their honey barbeque sauce would be amazing, but it was seriously subpar. I actually enjoyed the honey mustard sauce more.
If they're still around in a couple of years, I may give it another shot and hopefully they will improve, but with so many places to eat in Atlantic City, I have to say that it might not really...

Located in the Tropicana, Wild Honey BBQ is a carnivore's paradise. If you've ever fantasized about channeling your inner Fred Flintstone and munching on a dinosaur-sized bone, look no further than THE BIG WEST TEXAS beef rib. This monstrosity is so humongous; it could double as a prop in a prehistoric sitcom.
I embarked on a meaty adventure, tackling the beef rib, pulled pork, brisket, and smoked sausage – a lineup that could make even a T-Rex loosen its belt. The beef rib, my personal MVP, is smoky, juicy, and falls off the bone. The brisket earned its smoky stripes with a delightful smoke ring, and the pulled pork was as buttery as a popcorn flick. The smoked sausage brought the perfect blend of smokiness and mild sweetness, creating a flavor symphony in my carnivorous orchestra.

How do you have a proper meal without appetizers. We had crispy, juicy dry rubbed wings. We also had the artichoke dip, cauliflower bits and the biscuit / cornbread combo. My tastebuds are doing cartwheels of joy.
For the health-conscious squad members, fear not – the strawberry fields salad with salmon provides a refreshing and guilt-free ticket to the feast.
And then, the grand finale – the hot fudge sundae. The fudge is so good, it could probably make a rock cry.
In conclusion, Wild Honey BBQ is a symphony for the taste buds, a carnivorous haven where dreams of giant dinosaur bones come true. If I were a solo diner, my top picks would be the biscuit, wings, mac and cheese, and, of course, the Big West Texas beef rib. So, gather your carnivorous crew and embark on a flavor-filled journey – your taste buds...
