One of my favorite all-you-can-eat sushi places in southeast Aurora. I highly recommend coming in for dinner (24.99) as it also includes a multitude of special rolls on top of everything you can get on their regular order sheet.
I recommend the My Girlfriend Roll if you're into spicy tuna and that spicy life. Another good one is the classic Spider Roll for some crunchy crab.
The lunch all-you-can-eat is also a great deal (14.99), but doesn't include the special rolls. Still has a lot of popular stuff available from their order sheet, though!
The main reason why I rate it 4/5 is due to the amount of rice used in their single pieces and rolls. Being all-you-can-eat, they try to fill you up with the extra carbs. That's understandable though, as the price you pay is worth it if you can eat a ton.
Edit: Above is an older review, below is an updated review as of 03/01/2024
Years later, I can finally update my review to a 5/5 for Sushi Totoro's All You Can Eat dinner menu! Due to inflation, the price of the ayce has gone up (to be honest, ayce prices have gone up everywhere, whether it's sushi, kbbq, hotpot, etc) but the value for the price is still within reasonable amounts (About 30-35 per person for dinner).
The My Girlfriend Roll this many years later is still such a banger, and my new favorite roll that they have added to the menu, called the Truffle Salmon Tartar Roll is absolutely amazing. I get these two rolls every single time I visit, whether it's Lunch or Dinner. The variety of special roll choice is plentiful as always, you can easily find a special roll to cater to certain tastes.
Their single piece sushi is generally flavorful and fresh, though the rice amounts are a little on the bigger side, but hey it's ayce, they gotta keep their margins in check somehow right? My favorite single piece sushi from them in particular are their Salmon, Tobiko (flying fish egg), Unagi (eel with unagi sauce), and Spicy Scallop (they serve their spicy scallop as a big chunk of scallop with sauce on top vs making a spicy scallop salad, and I absolutely love the texture of the bigger pieces of scallop).
The reason why I'm upgrading my review to 5/5 is because this many years later, I still love coming to Sushi Totoro, and I enjoy everything they have to offer on their ayce menu. They have updated some items on their ayce thru the years, and have kept an amazing value in wake...
Read moreIf you have a large party, and you want to eat Japanese and Sushi right now, then you will want to come here.
Sushi Totoro has ample seating and floor space, which makes it easy to get a table at almost any time of the day, as well as being able to seat more people without long waits. I would advise calling days ahead of time if you are bringing in a party larger than 12 though, just so they know they'll need to plan for a huge party.
The sushi is fresh, and the rice is well made without overbearing amounts of sugar that are found at some other sushi places. The milder flavors of the fish, without being soaked in mayo and teriyaki make for a more enjoyable meal, if you appreciate the different flavors of the fish by themselves for nigiri. They also serve maki rolls of course, and have both the typical rolls people expect, as well as some chef favorites.
I have never had a problem with the service here, even with large parties, and the staff was always friendly and inviting. Drink service is reasonably quick, the entire restaurant is very clean, and thanks to their layout the volume of the place doesn't become too loud even when there are many diners.
I have eaten at a lot of the sushi restaurants in Aurora and the metro area, and there is no problem with the freshness of the fish and seafood here at all, and Sushi Totoro certainly is a quality experience for an all-you-can-eat. As long as you reasonably expect an AYCE experience with good quality, as opposed to a Japanese steak house experience, than you will enjoy...
Read moreCame here for dinner and did the all you can eat (AYCE) for 30.99. Overall I think it was worth a try however I won’t be returning. Here’s why: 1. The sushi rice. Seems stupid but it was really annoying for every, EVERY piece of sushi to tear in half when you pick it up then continuously disintegrates throughout the journey to your mouth. By the end of the meal, there was rice everywhere on the table and soaked in the soy sauce. Not that big of a deal but I already know one other AYCE that just does this better for the same price. 2. The mackerel and scallop nigiri were straight up the worst things I’ve put in my mouth in a while. Both were so fishy it kind of made me sick and definitely ruined sushi for me for a while unfortunately. I’ll never try mackerel again but I’ve had scallop nigiri at other places and it tasted fine but not sure what happened here. 3. Finally, quality was just leaving something to be desired. It wasn’t awful I guess? But the fish was just really mushy and warm, with no bite or freshness to it. Wasn’t expecting a lot to begin with with AYCE of course but once again, I’ve just had better sushi at other restaurants with AYCE. However! Still worth a try! My friend raaaaves about the seared tuna nigiri and there was a huge variety of appetizers however they kept forgetting at least one every round of ordering but that saved us from severely overeating so there’s that. The peach jelly sake was divine and the...
