Best donuts we've had in the last year! We moved here from Texas, and I don't know what it is about donuts in this area, they are usually greasy. These? ARE NOT! I talked to the owner a bit, and he says he makes sure they get a full rise before frying, uses quality oil, and changes it frequently. The effort and skill pay off!
The novelty donuts for the kids are cute: little rainbows, Elmo, Cookie Monster, and lots of sprinkles varieties. They have a variety of fillings available: raspberry, Bavarian cream, whipped cream, buttercream, pumpkin spice (in season), etc. They have cronuts, cronut holes, and a "special" topped with fresh strawberries, fresh cream, and filled with chocolate.
They have kolaches (koblansk if you're Czech) in cheddar and jalapeño, and bicep-sized breakfast burritos (get the chorizo!). They also serve Boba!
My one quibble is lack of seating. Maybe I want to chill and eat a donut or five, because I...
Read moreJust came home from a stay in Aurora, and we hit up We Knead Donut twice in four days. Everything we got there was DELICIOUS, but part of what brought us back was the service. The people we interacted with there were all so very nice and solicitous. When we went back this second time (two or three days after the first time), the employee (proprietor?) greeted us warmly with a "welcome back!" I said, "you remember us??" and he said of course he did. He was so kind and gracious. Also, coming from the east coast with all the designer doughnuts and the outlandish prices that tend to go with them, we were floored at how inexpensive everything was here at We Knead. We'd absolutely go back if we're ever back in the area--in fact, even if we're elsewhere in the Denver area we would make a special trip to Aurora for this particular...
Read moreThis little shop hasn’t been open that long. If you’re from the area you may remember it opening in early 2024, but that was under a different owner/manager. It’s under new management now.
If you are from Texas, like me, (born and raised) you should check out their kolache’s. They have three kinds and I love the sausage cheddar one. I even used to sell them where I worked when I was still a teenager…and their’s are much like what I miss from back home; probably better. I’ve had them more than once and it’s been just as good each time. And the owner is super nice. While I was deciding what else I wanted today, someone came in a picked up a large order, so that’s an option if you are looking to feed a group of people.
Definitely check them out. They are at E Quincy Ave & S Buckley Rd in the shopping center with King Soopers...
