ATX Gyro on Rio Grande Street in Austin’s West Campus is a vibrant, late‑night Mediterranean food‑truck standout. Open nightly into the early hours (as late as 3–4 AM on weekends) it’s the go‑to for UT students and locals craving falafel, shawarma, or juicy lamb gyros over rice . The food consistently earns praise for bold flavor and fresh ingredients. The Gyro Over Rice gets top marks—tender lamb, crisp veggies, tangy tzatziki and hot sauce over hearty basmati—“great meat and rice which resonates me very well,” one delivery review raves . The Chicken Shawarma Over Rice is another favorite: “perfect amount of spices, sauce, protein,” and more than 89% positive feedback . Vegetarian options like falafel wraps and plates shine too, earning praise for fresh flavor and generous portioning (). Customer service is warm and welcoming—Chef Ahmed and his team make a friendly impression . Expect speedy prep and seamless takeout, especially after a night out. Seating is casual—either picnic‑style tables or food‑court benches—but the laid‑back vibe fits right into the West Campus energy . Pricing is very reasonable (around $11–$16 for wrap or plate), considering generous portions and flavor quality.

“I’ve been coming to this food truck twice a week for almost three months, and I truly enjoy the food. The Chicken Shawarma over rice is my favorite—it’s always fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The service is consistently quick and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

My friends and I went here earlier this week around midnight and when one of my friends went to place an order, the guy at the front crashed out on him for no reason. Our other friend went to put in an order and he had no problem. My friend went up immediately after him to put in an order, and the employee got very agitated and upset at him and started saying something along the lines of "really, really, now you want to place an order, I stay out here all day for you guys." This was out of nowhere and very confusing. The food truck is open til way later at night and my friend nicely put in an order. My friend still tipped him almost 45% on the gyro, which by the way is way too expensive for the quantity and quality, because he felt bad for NO reason bc it was completely the workers fault! He is too nice so I'm writing this review on his behalf. We will be coming back to give him a piece of our mind,...

The lady working at the food truck is really rude and keep rolling her eyes when speaking. She is always on her phone. Also the falafel she made for us were uncooked and raw from inside! When we ask her why they are raw, she argued that the falafel should be raw from inside. She didnt know anything and she didnt care. If a customer is paying x dollars for food, atleast they deserve decent quality of food. My dinner got ruined. Either the owner improve quality of food or get her fired or...
