UNIVERSITY MARKET — Local services in Austin

I know y'all are swarming this place because of that one TikTok! I went in blind with no menu online, so here are some photos and my review so y'all don't have to.

• Chicken Tikka Over Rice 10/10 This didn't disappoint! So much food for an excellent price ($9.99). This had a BEAUTIFUL color and the chicken was tender, juicy and packed with the right amount of seasoning and salt. Not a bland or dry piece in sight. It had a good spice level. If you can't handle red sauce on regular gyro plates, you should be fine. Rice isn't usually remarkable, but this rice was delicious and flavorful! There was a great ratio of meat to rice-- they didn't skimp out here. The plate was made fresh but timely. The servers were friendly and while I can't speak for the other dishes, this one felt relatively authentic. If you're not familiar with South Asian food, this Chicken Tikka tasted a bit like buffalo chicken but better.

• Cookies n Cream Milkshake 0/10 This was ass, I'm not gonna sugar coat it. It was straight milk with a little syrup and maybe some blended Oreos. Immediately after getting it I saw that it jiggled like a regular liquidy drink, and I don't even think this had ice cream. Should've know since I paid $3.99 for a "milkshake" at a Desi place. Gonna stick to the food from now on.

• Overall market Definitely a nicer, elevated version of O Mart but with more variety. The prices are almost the same, but with some things being cheaper/ or more expensive. I was surprised they had a few South Asian treats like Mirinda and some produce here. I appreciated the price transparency and that most things were labeled unlike other shops. It was also very bright and organized.

I'll definitely be coming back to try some more...

I’m conflicted about this review, first I’d like to start out by saying I shop here quite frequently and the staffs customer service is awesome and the store is always very clean and organized. However an issue as occurred that I can’t overlook. They will allow vehicles to be towed even if you are a paying customer. I’m in the middle of disputing this but the tow company has stated that any vehicle towed from their parking spots are approved by the staff but the staff has taken the stance that they did not approve the tow. Parked there for about 20 mins when towed. I hope this is just a random fluke that gets resolved because I do...

Best convenience store in West Campus! Great variety of products, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. I seriously am in here every day, never disappointed.

They’ve got a kitchen, and bakery products. One of the staff let me know they’re going to start making food; potentially burgers, tacos, and Pakistani cuisine. Like I said I go in regularly and when they’re working on recipes its smells SO GOOD.
