Busty's is usually cool but sadly the staff was very pissy last night lol
We asked our server politely if there were any chairs that we could add to our booth. Totally innocuous question. As a server/bartender myself, I can confidently say that there are sometimes chairs found at bars. But the server fired back "PFFT?! NO?! ITS A BAR?! GO OUTSIDE IF YOU WANT A BIGGER TABLE" as if we had asked the dumbest question in the history of innocuous questions ๐๐
Then we asked for water and she fired back "THERE'S A WATER STATION OVER THERE" in the most terse and unfriendly way possible. At this point I began to ask Jesus for forgiveness for we had committed a cardinal sin of asking another innocuous question ๐๐
We go to the water station. The jug is empty lol. So we go to the bar to notify them/order some shots. The girl at the bar was super nice to be fair and took care of the water.
We still wanted to order drinks and after waiting at the bar for 5 minutes my friend politely put his hand in the air to signal someone that we still needed service. Totally innocuous gesture. As a server/bartender myself, I can confidently say that a client sometimes raising their hand is normal and harmless. The bartender in a hat and beard crashed out with "THAT IS RUDE!!? WOW, THAT IS SoOoO RUDE. YOU SEE ALL THESE PEOPLE?! YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES AT THE BAR!!?" My friend and I looked at each other genuinely confused as to why he was so butthurt about it lmao ๐๐ I continued my call to Jesus with "Dear Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Infant Jesus, don't even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent...."
You should still try this place out as it has been fun the previous times. Our group will be taking a break from Bustyโs for a while though. There are plenty of ATX establishments where staff are nice, fun, and cool. As a server/bartender myself here is some free advice to the Bustyโs staff: Breathe lol. Relaxxxx. If youโre butthurt about something just keep it on the inside and then punch the air when you get home. Thatโs what I do and its worked out pretty...
ย ย ย Read moreLate 2024: Went in for an evening drink with a couple of friends. One of those friends lives walking distance so we walked over. Normally I'm a beer drinking fella, but I wanted a touch of energy, so I had an espresso martini. And it was great. Prices of drinks here are pretty typical Austin. Not cheap. I think the beers were $7-9. The drink I had was $12 or $13 I think. The drink prices are not listed on the drink menu, it's a bit of a guessing game.
The food here is great. I had a double bacon smash burger, it was delicious. The burger starts at $8 for a single Patty, but you really need to spend the extra $3 and get the double because the smash burgers are pretty thin. They charge you another couple bucks for bacon. My friend had a mushroom and cheese melt, it was also good, $8?
Bartenders were prompt and delightful, friendly.
I also spoke to a couple folks that came up to the bar and they were friendly also. So perhaps this is a neighborhood bar where people talk to each other. That said, I'm not so sure about it because it seems like it's set up more like a restaurant.
There's a couple of patios outside that are really nice.
Atmosphere: The design of the place is kind of old school. Not sure that I love the way it's set up. Although they do have a super cool upside down Corvette on the ceiling And some nice design elements. Photographed is a monster truck with...
ย ย ย Read moreOn my recent Saturdays, I have been checking out some bars and places I've never experienced. Today, I ventured to Busty's Bar and Jukebox. The photos on Google maps and such do it no justice - I walked in and felt like I had traveled back to my youth in the 70s. Mind you - I still had my phone and could get an Uber to get out of there if needed. I didn't leave for a quite a while - the place is AMAZING!!! The staff, the drinks, the decor, the vibe - it KICKED ASS!!!!! Want a margarita - order the Cadillac! Want a brunch in a super cool space - go to Busty's! I can't lie - I nearly cried towards the end of my visit, and cry for all the COOL, GROOVY reasons - the updated yet genuine 70's decor/vibe/awesome feel, the delicious lingering effect of a Cadillac, and a few memories of my youth in the 70s and also living in that neighborhood in the mid 90s. Everyone person whom I encountered working there were fantastic and taking care of business. I'm going back very soon and bringing friends with me - people HAVE to immerse themselves in such a wonderful experience. If you are traveling by Busty's soon, pull over and embrace such a spectacular, damn good...
