It's important to note that most of the time my experience here is great. Tangie in particular always brings great energy to the job.
Today I 3xperienced something that is fortunately rare, but still a recurring problem:
Today I went to order my meal, pressing the red button. It began flashing, and the menu screen gained a banner stating that someone would take my order shortly. Then there was static on the line, lic a mic had just turned on, and then the button stopped blinking. The sign still told me someone would take my orderr shortly but I knew better: I've been down this road before. I pressed thr red button again. Another burst of static and then the button turned off again. After two more presses and two more static bursts, I pulled out my phone and started recording, and still in to see how long it would take for someone to remember I existed.
It's worth noting that ther were a lot of empty spots around me; the sonic was not busy at the time.
Sure enough, I was sat there for 10 minutes before anything happened (my phone helpfully told me how long I had been recording). Unfortunately, the thing that happened is the screen's banner saying someone would take my order soon went away. Replaced with he usual "please press the button to have someone take your order" message. Apparently I had been put on hold so long I'd timed out.
So I follow the screens instructions and press the red button again. Instantly the line comes alive and the is someone taking my order. Thank goodness. I make my order and within a minute have my food an am pulling out.
I don't know how the internals of Sonic work, but that "on hold" status is a trap: every time I've sen it happen I've been forgotten an lft waiting for an unreasonable amount of time. One day it actually was busy and no one got to me for 30 minutes!!! And ven then it was only because a physical person came out of the building asking I needed help, since I "wasn't ordering" :P
Oh, and when I got back home to eat, instead of the mozzarella sticks I paid for my bag contained an order of small fries :P that one is half on me though for not checking while still...
Read moreI've been here for more than an hour waiting for my order which is the churro shake and the free hamburger from the app. This is unacceptable. And to top it off the employees are just sitting around doing absolutely nothing but playing on their phone. If this is the type of work environment that's here at Sonic then there's no need for me to come here especially this location.
Update: after writing this review , I received my order and I have to say the hamburger did I got for free was cold not hot at all and the shake with all right but it look like you have been sitting for a few minutes. I don't care what the fate of the car hops are but like I said before I will not be back here.
Just before exiting this review oh, I looked at all the other reviews in I have to say it's time to do a cleanup now I know things are hard because of what's going on currently in that, in this country and especially this state alone but there is absolutely no excuse 4 the slow response time when people order their food. I've been in the Foodservice industry for only 3 years and I had to make sure that I got my response time perfectly and down pat especially during lunch rush. If I sound like I'm a complete a-hole I sincerely apologize but unfortunately dealing with this generation of people can't be easy.
11/10/2024 today I ordered my food and wouldn't you know the only thing that was on point was the red velvet shake but you know what is not on point and not hot at all my food. They've been giving me my food very cold and I've had to go home and warm it up. I'm starting to think that my last review caused some type of grudge because they've been doing this more than once and I have to tell you I've been to the Sonic that's near my apartment and every time I order food it'd be nice and hot and so good but this Sonic on Cameron Road. Read moreI've never reviewed a fast food place. I've never had reason to not like a Sonic. Something is wrong with the Sonic on Cameron and 290. I've gotten maybe ten free drinks for slow service. I've been forgotten entirely. I've pushed the button and never been asked for an order. I mean it is right near my house and I like Sonic, so I go but not to this one anymore. I'll go a little further to any other option next time. Twenty minutes on a slow night and no one answering my button push just to ask what is going on with my order is just the last straw I guess. They've taken fifteen minutes for a tea before. Twenty minutes for a chili dog and fries. C'mon man.
Edit: contacted by management and assured that they were aware of the situation and offered a meal for my trouble, which I refused since I wanted them to understand I wasn't complaining to get a free meal.
I went back almost six months later and was ignored for twenty minutes. When I attempted to speak with the person who was running orders telling him I was skipped and no one was taking my order. I was told he couldn't hear me but I needed to "watch my tone" at which point I lost it, made sure he understood my tone through sign language and left. This place is the absolute worst.
