The nearest Cabo Bob’s is about 30 mins away for me. That is 30 minutes that I’d be willing to go out of my way, once in a while, because that burrito was just so good! So good that I have to break my Google Maps review rule by giving this place 5⭐️s without knocking any stars down despite the utter lack of any veg/vegan protein options (Cabo Bob’s - please add something to the menu for those of us that don’t eat meat; like Tofu, Seitan or Tempeh!). What makes the burrito so good? The tortilla, the pico, and the sauces+salsas. There are also other fillings to choose from, of course, like beans, rice, veggies, meats etc. The soft, warm tortilla is made fresh in front of you, and you can pick one/a combination of 4 options: Buttermilk Flour (White), Cilantro Tomatillo (Green), Ancho Chili (RED), and Smoky Cheddar (Orange). I got the cilantro tomatillo + smokey cheddar, and it was probably the best tortilla I’ve ever had. Per their website, the tortilla dough is made from unbleached, untreated wheat flour and Rice Bran oil, which is much better than all purpose flour. The mango pico was fresh, tangy and delicious. The red salsa, chipotle crema and 66 red sauce were a super tasty combo. Given they have zero veg protein options, I picked the gilled veggies (zucchini/squash), which were ok. The size of the burrito is large enough to make two meals out of it, or just one big meal for the day. They have stations where you can grab napkins, extra sauce, dispose of your trash, return the food baskets, and they also have convenient to go boxes with lids to pack over extras. Seating: indoor booth/table & chair seating and high top tables, outdoor seating has covered picnic benches. Ambience: simple, casual/beach-y?, good energy, constant flux of people ordering/picking up food/eating.
Overall, very impressed with the tortilla, definitely recommend, and will be back in a few months (sooner if they add veg protein...
Read moreFirst timer to Cabo Bob's, this location was particularly busy, waited about 20 or 25 minutes in line, but it was lunchtime so it was to be expected. Decent food, I was comparing to Chipotle personally, food quality is much better here, but vegetarian selection is better at Chipotle. I like that they have zucchini and squash as part of the grilled vegetables they offer for the veggie burrito, but was disappointed they didn't have a vegetarian "meat" option made of tofu or something, like Chipotle has with their sofritas. Also very skimpy on the toppings like cheese and sour cream, like 2 tbsp of cheese and 1-2 tbsp of sour cream on a whole burrito, right in the middle, so my veggie burrito was literally just veggies, lettuce, rice, and beans. Very dry burrito, and they charge for extra of either of those. Also while the zucchini and squash were very welcome with the onions and peppers, they were literally just plain, unseasoned grilled veggies. No salt, pepper, or other seasonings I could taste. So compared to the full flavor smell from the meat options, I was disappointed. Just because I am vegetarian doesn't mean I don't like flavor and seasonings. Some garlic, a sprinkle of chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper would be even more welcomed for those veggies IMO.
Loved the variety of sodas at the fountain though, plus the take home cup.
Bottles of hot sauce they have for you to bring to the table for your food have a good heat level, but they are sweet! Like sugar sweet, really weird.
It was okay because it was paid for by work as a work lunch, but would probably not go back and pay out of my own pocket here. Would rather go to Chipotle,...
Read moreI’ve gone to the shoal creek location and to the Ben White location. Shoal creek is the one I frequent because it’s closer. The Ben White location is close to work. This is my 4th time at the Ben White and I can say with absolute certainty that this service and speed is terrible. I thought the first two times were just because I caught a busy time or they were understaffed so I didn’t think anything of it. Plus I worked in fast food/restaurant business before. But this location hands down is always very slow, I never really see a manager help run the line, they don’t seem to care that the line is long. I understand there are lunch and dinner rushes. But when it takes almost 45 mins for me to just get to the tortilla choice of the line, that’s too much. Sorry y’all.
Update Nov 2023: this place got better since my last review. But it got worse again lol they seem to have either switched out the staff or fire and hire new people because I don’t see the people that I would normally see when I come get food. The line takes even longer. The people behind the counter don’t seem to care for anything or anyone. I see managers just standing doing nothing. They also seem to prioritize the online orders. I was ordering my burrito and I had to wait for a good minute so they can complete the 3 burritos for I’m assuming is an online order, before I even started to tell them what kind of rice I wanted. And by then my tortilla was cold. Idk what happened to the old staff but I miss them. These new...
