Let me start out by saying I come here every single Friday. Rain or shine. Itâs my study spot for grad school, despite how crowded it gets, specifically because of how good it is. I love the coffee, obviously, but the food is also top notch, and I am obsessed with the bagels. I know some of the staff pretty well at this point, and Iâm sure Iâm known as the bagel guy.
So if you are looking for a great breakfast spot, study spot, or hang spot (especially if youâre new in town) you should pop in. Itâs great. HoweverâŚ.
Only come here and enjoy these things if you are OK with not being able to use any of your devices (phone, computer, tablet, etc.) for the first 20 minutes you sit down.
The unfortunate reality is if there are more than 8ish people in the shop at a time the WiFi legitimately just doesnât work (most of the time). I will sometimes sit at the counter refreshing my connection for 10-15 minutes before my internet responds with anything besides âthis site canât be reachedâ. The funky thing is that I can see a full strength connection icon on my toolbar, the sites just wonât connect. Itâs almost as if there are a maximum number of spots available on the router, and you have to keep refreshing until someone elseâs connection drops. Itâs super frustrating, and though I will continue to come here on the regular, I really think the owners need to come and remedy the problem. I waste a good chunk of time trying to simply get my computer online.
So just be aware of this if you want to hunker down for a little while at this spot!
Oh look, I have been trying to connect this entire time I spent writing a review and now my computer literally just refreshed itself....

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves this morning to a nice breakfast and coffee and try the new Civil Goat on Guadalupe. It was a mistake.
When we walked in there were two other customers and three staff working, so no excuses. We ordered two coffees and bagels. The menu gives you the option to add eggs to the bagels for an extra $3 so we got eggs too. In total it was $25, pricy for breakfast, so I had high expectations.
After a long wait the waitress brought out the bagels with no eggs then informed us that "you can not order eggs with the bagels, only toast," this is dispite the fact that the option was clearly listed on the menu. When I asked if I could be refunded for the eggs the waitress dismissively said yes and walked off. Seems to me like they forgot to add the eggs or were just feeling too lazy to cook them. I also doubt that they actually refunded the eggs based on her lackadaisical response.
I waited about 20 minutes for the coffee and when I went ot the counter to check on it the staff said that they forgot to bring it out, but assured me that it was still warm. The coffee was room temperature. The staff never offered to remake it or refund me. As I mentioned earlier. there were about 4 customers and 3 staff in the cafe. The staff spent most of the time chatting and goofing off with each other while offering short, bad service.
For that type of price I expect to not get ripped off. Wont be back anytime soon. Save your money and...
Read moreBaristas are not very welcoming whatsoever. I wondered if any of them even knew how to smile. These are people that Iâm sure consider themselves grown adults but truly act like entitled teenagers that are being forced to siphon out coffee to people all day. I asked the barista if it was okay to sit outside since we had never been there and she said it was and gave us a number to put on our tables so they could bring the drinks/food out to us. They then brought out our food with no drinks and collected the number.I went inside and asked the barista with the crossed arms and scowl on her face if they brought the coffees out to us (since, once again,it was our first time coming to this establishment) and she dismissively pointed to our iced coffees that looked like theyâd been sitting there for at least 20 minutes because apparently none of the 10 baristas behind the counter can bring the drinks out to us. For the record, this is the first time I have ever been compelled to...
