In February 2012, my 94 year old father suffered a stroke. One of the outcomes of the stroke was a diagnosis of a severe swallowing issue with two therapists recommending the use of a feeding tube. It was devastating news. During a treatment for the pain of two bulging discs in my back, I mentioned the situation to Dr Zhou. Dr Zhou said that he thought he could help my father with the swallowing issue and has had success both here in the States when he was practicing in China. After a vibrant and independent life, up until the day of his stoke, a feeding tube was not an option to even consider. Although initially we tried the pureed foods and thickened liquids we soon signed the waiver to allow my father to once again enjoy a "regular" glass of water and regular foods, even with the western medicine threat that this would most likely lead to a choking episode and/or pneumonia. Dr Zhou had already successfully treated my father for a pain in his hip from a fall on the ice several years ago, when Dad was living in Michigan. We started treatments for the swallowing issue in March and although my Dad is still receiving treatments, there has been a steady improvement with his condition. Dr. Zhou is expert in his knowledge and practice, compassionate, attentive, experienced, and kind. I am a regular patient of Dr. Zhou’s, seeing him twice a month for general well-being. I immediately seek his treatment when I am ill or have had an injury. He is my doctor alongside my western (MD) practitioner, though Dr. Zhou is much easier to schedule and book! And he supervises his staff so that they are likewise caring, courteous, and attentive. Current staff member, Paul, is delightfully friendly, helpful, and works hard to book me for the days and times I need, and to rebook me if that is needed.
