In what used to be a house, now repurposed as a restaurant, Foodheads aims to provide you with an experience that makes you feel right at home. Not just in the laid back environment, but in the food too. They offer delicious homestyle sandwiches that are some of the best in town. I got the:
Brisket Brioche Banh Mi: Brisket, slaw, red onion, cilantro, serranos, and sriracha mayo. Great array of smokey, citrusy, creamy, spicy, and rich flavors. They recently acquired a new smoker, so the brisket is smoked in-house! Chicken & Eggplant: Grilled chicken, roasted eggplant, goat cheese, basil pesto, tomato, spinach, and balsamic reduction. This one is a contrast to the brisket sandwich as it’s much lighter and wholesome. Gumbo Soup: This was my first time ever having gumbo! This one left a bit more to be desired as I felt the flavor could have been elevated more. Maybe more salt? Still good nonetheless. Tomato Coconut Soup: Loved this one. Think tomato basil, but with a coconut milk aftertaste. They put a bit of curry in there - unique!
My overall thoughts is that the portion sizes are huge for the affordable price tags you pay. I love the variety in sandwich choices too. There’s a couple more I want to try, so I will for sure be back!
Great food, great environment, great customer service....

FoodHeads is a cool little spot with a cozy, homey vibe and nice seating. The place definitely has that local Austin charm. It’s on the pricier side, but overall we enjoyed our visit. That said, I walked away still feeling hungry and when you spend around $60 for two people, you kind of expect to leave full.
The sandwiches don’t come with chips, so you’re just getting the sandwich unless you order sides separately. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it it just didn’t hit the mark for me. My wife had the Apple Pork Tenderloin and Chicken Pozole Soup, and she absolutely loved both. Like she said, it’s not really a BBQ place, so I probably expected something it’s not meant to be.
One downside: they didn’t have ice for the drinks. When my wife asked, the staff said they’d get some, but it never came. It’s a small thing, but still disappointing. Also, make sure to grab extra napkins you only get one, and the food can get messy.

Read moreMy wife found this place and we came by on Saturday morning to eat on my way to a gig in the Hill Country. I had a Gypsy Grove while my wife had the Chicken Special. Amazing sandwhiches and great house pickles. Prices are absurdly cheap--this is not Subway, but same price gets you a 5-star sandwhich, cool vibe and atmosphere, eclectic seating, and that neighborhood feel--plenty of outside seating shaded with fans or on the porch...it's literally a winner, winner chicken dinner. My bread was phenomenal, and the jalapeno relish was perfect...even had a nice coffee to start while we kicked back out front--service is friendly and on point. This place is my new go-to for a cheap meal when I want to sit and relax and inhale life over the crazy brunch crowds elsewhere that are over-priced and take forever. It's gonna take me a couple months to get through the entire menu, but I'm on a mission. 5 stars!
We returned for the Lami and a salmon bagel--wonderful! Everything was as great as before...I love that the sandwhiches never skimp on the meat (but my wife will ask for extra creamcheese on...
