A good coffeeshop is defined by its environment and customer service--that's where they lost me.
This spot only has USB ports, no outlets. Ergo only people with Macs or the latest laptops are able to charge their computers (ie. only people with expensive products). Seems counterintuitive to intentionally exclude such a huge chunk of the remote working crowd, but sure, maybe you are trying to be one of those "sip&chat" places rather than a "sip&work". I get that. Cuvee is like that, and it works. I love it there!
However, the reaction from one of the staff members when I asked was so dismissive and rude, it gave me the impression that the design decision wasn't about discouraging ALL people from working there--just the ones that can't afford (or don't want to purchase) the newest technology.
Say it wasn't intentional and I just caught the staff member on a bad day, the effect is still the same. Their "style", as this staff member called it, is perpetuating an environment of exclusivity and actively isolates individuals with lower income.
I'm so over these slimy, discriminatory business practices masked as "style". It would have been simpler to make that a space available to EVERYONE, yet they actively chose not to.
Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else. There are dozens of spots in town that aren't pretentious, have better coffee, and deserve your patronage.
2 stars instead of 1 only because their coffee is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe coffee is high-quality, but itās not the first time the barista has been rude. The last time my friends faced this, they begged me to leave a review for this attitude, but I decided not to do this and left tips. I decided to do this this time as it's not getting better. Iāve asked to make macha with almond milk and asked if the milk has sugar, as Iām on a special diet. The barista rolled her eyes and went down to check it. Iāve asked her if everything is okay and if itās not ok to be rude to the guest. Instead of managing, she started to scream that I was asking if milk had sugar, and she went to check it. The situation worsened, and the barista said all milk types had sugar in this place. I ordered a double espresso, and another barista politely offered to close the sale. While I was paying, the first barista abruptly put down the espresso to the counter. I'm glad the coffee didn't spill while she threw it to me. I said it to her, and Iām saying it here: if you can't work in hospitality, itās ok, but you need to find another job. So many people need work those days. There is no need to hire someone who ruins peopleās morning, because they feel too good to check sugar in milk. With that being said, I don't know the buisnes where being polite to people considered an extra skill that not required. Was my last time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, this was one of my least favorite coffee shop experiences. From the moment I walked in, there was no greeting or acknowledgment. When I approached the counter, the barista directed me to order at the espresso barāright next to herāso I moved over, only to be completely ignored by the second barista. I couldnāt shake the feeling that I was being profiled in some way, as the barista with short hair refused to acknowledge me at all.
The menu was extremely limited. While I was looking at the only menu they had, the barista told me to order again at the espresso bar in a judgmental tone, even though I was simply trying to decide on my order. Meanwhile, the other barista continued to ignore me, making the whole interaction uncomfortable. I left right after I received my order.
On top of that, the shop lacks outlets, making it an impractical place to operate in. If youāre looking for a warm, welcoming environment with good service, this isnāt the place. Customer service training is definitely...
