Wonder Bar — Restaurant in Austin

An eclectic experience somewhere between a fever dream and outer space, Wonder Bar outclasses all other Domain bars when it comes to creativity and aesthetics. Central to other bars and restaurants, Wonder Bar is very accessible, especially when taking into consideration The Domain’s free parking. From the moment you enter it feels like you’re entering an experience, not just a bar. From space themed rooms to funky decorations and a prize wheel, everything feels detailed to the patron experience.

At the main bar we ordered ‘That’s That Me Espresso’ and ‘A Little Treat’. Both drinks were very good, although they’re $14 a pop which is expected at a place like this. We also got a token to spin the wheel where it decides what you get. That part is very fun as the workers and people around get very into it, contributing to the fun atmosphere. The music is also good and if you like to dance it seemed like there were a good amount of people doing so there. Altogether, Wonder Bar is a very fun bar where energy and good drinks intersect and leave you wanting to come back to give that wheel just one more go. Neat place, lots to look at and certainly can be a fun joint. Drinks aren’t cheap which was expected. I give this place two stars because the bartenders are rude. I was there with a group of 10 or so people. Dropped a couple of hundred dollars in less than an hour. As my group is shouting drink orders from behind me the bartender named Pinky had the audacity to make it seem like we were an inconvenience because he kept having to grab another drink, poor baby having to do his job and all. The bar was a little busy, granted, but I bartended for about 15 years and would never mouth off to a customer like he did me. My opinion, fire Pinky. A jerk like that can ruin a bars rep. Pinky loose the attitude and the man bun, shut yer face a get my drinks tough guy. Frankly most of the bartenders acted like they didn’t want to be there. Bartenders like that are start making the Domain as lame as 6th street has become. Bartenders like that think they are too COOL. You tend bar lol, get over yourself. This place is awful do not go here!!! It is really all looks but there are so many better places in Austin. I hate places that claim they're inclusive but it's only performative and when it's convenient for them. Bouncer was giving me a hard time about being let in when I had a valid government issued id, I am of age and was being patient. He kept telling me to show him a different id but this is my id and I even offered to show them my debit card with the same name or have them scan it, but the white guy at the door was not listening to us and kept repeating to me to show him a different id. Went out to celebrate my friends birthday and this interaction ruined my night. They made it such a huge deal when l've been out of state multiple times and never have had problems with my identification. Only when I told them we were leaving because they were being racist is when they finally listened to me and let me show them my debit card like I had offered in the first place.
