DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE** I have never received service this bad at any restaurant in my entire life. It was horrendously bad service. I went with 3 other people, so 4 people total. Tables were dirty, several had previous customers’ plates still on them, with no one even attempting to clean them up. We pick a table and sit down, crumbs and bottle cap on the table, waitress comes over sets down our menus and napkins and walks away and we call her back and ask if we can get the table wiped down. She returns with our chips in one hand and a dirty towel, as well as our salsa in the other hand and wipes down the table. She basically just wipes all the crumbs and bottle cap onto the floor (and onto my jeans) and leaves it there. She takes our drink order and after a ridiculous amount of time, she returns with our drinks, at which time we also request more chips. We have to remind her about the chips and then she finally comes to take our order. Remember there is 4 people in our party, she writes down and takes 3 peoples order and forgets to take one persons order, puts her pen away and is about to walk off, when the 4th person places their order, she reaches back in her apron to get her pen out with an annoyed look on her face, takes the order and then leaves. An exorbitant amount of time passes and we are slowly one by one finishing off our drinks. We finally end up calling over a different waiter and ask for some waters. After another ridiculous amount of time passes she comes by to check on us and the other people in the group request beverages. Another ridiculous amount of time passes and 3 of the 4 orders come out, with 1 order being wrong and her telling me that 1 order (my order) is almost ready and will be out shortly. well, apparently she forgot to place the order so it takes 30 minutes before they bring it out, all I ordered was 3 crispy ground beef tacos….nothing fancy, which they got the order wrong btw. At this point we tell the waitress we are not happy with the service and want to speak to a manger, she is in complete and utter shock and says ok and leaves (to get the manager we assumed). Another exorbitant amount of time passes before I go and find the manager myself. After getting ignored and asking several people to speak to the manager, we find out that there is no manager. After arguing with them and them not producing a manager or someone in charge, we find out the cashier that was initially ignoring me, is the owners son, yet he can’t get a manager and he doesn’t know how to contact one. Anyways, after arguing we ended up getting 50% off of our bill...

I loved this place!!! Idk how long they’ve been there but it reminds me of the Austin I grew up in, which is becoming increasingly scarce.

I got the veggie burrito, which I never get burritos! They just seem too basic to be appetizing but I’m trying to eat more so I got that with a carnitas taco on the side. O M G It was delicious. They don’t pre make anything apparently so i was able to customize for food allergy stuff. It was a pretty big decent size and just warm and soft, fresh. Very welcoming. The carnitas were delicious!! Totally worth the guilty pleasure. Flavorful, and just the perfect crisp on the edges. They top it with pico, just FYI. I love pico so that was a (+) for me. The fresh jalapeños got me!! And the waitress walked by and saw my face watering and brought me a sample of the melón Fresca. It was so good. I’m not a cantaloupe person but I am sold. I will always get their aguas frescas from now on. And we ordered a large to go with us at the end.

They serve two salsas with chips complementary when you’re seated. The red one is served warm and you can tell some of the ingredients are toasted on the comal. This is The spicy one. Also giant chunk of fresh garlic, love it. The green salsa is served cold and is the milder one and you can tell the tomatillos, everything, is so fresh. Most Likely they run through that one because it is so tasty, refreshing, zippy, absolutely a must. It’s so citrus and fresh jalapeño but not so spicy that someone with a lower tolerance can’t eat it. I’d def come grab some of this salsa on its own just cuz. Just to have some at the house.

I also got a side of the mole sauce just cuz I love mole. It was so good. And very worth it. My veggie burrito, I had to skip any cream or cheese so that makes it “kinda boring” like lettuce, tomato, rice and beans, but it came with FRESH AVOCADO for the win and it was delicious with all the sauces: the red, THE GREEN, the MOLEEEEEEE. Highly recommend this spot.

The waitresses were very welcoming and patient. And the girl who noticed my face watering took the time to try to help me. They were great. Take care of these girls. They are an asset to...

Open 25 years? I have been in Austin for a very long time and cannot believe that I have never been to this restaurant. Especially since it is open late at night.

We were looking for a place to eat after an ACL taping around 11 pm on a Thursday night. Their site says open till 2am.

Las Cazuelas has an extensive almost overwhelming menu. My friend is a vegetarian so she has plenty of questions for the server. We both decided to try some of the New Original Plates.

They started us off with chips and salsa. The red salsa was watery tomato and bland. The green sauce was thick and spicy fantastic.

She ordered the Spinach Enchiladas which consisted of cheese enchiladas with a generous amount of spinach topping with rice and refried beans (which may or not have been vegetarian), salad and guacamole. The guac was pretty bland but it was pretty late at night.

I had the Emolada Enchiladas. Five shredded chicken enchiladas swimming in a mole sauce. I didn't want to mess with rice and beans since I had filled up on the chips and salsa. The enchiladas varied with the amount of filling. The mole sauce was rich and chocolatey...just a little too sweet.

Ended up taking a couple home because I was full from too many chips.

Curiously! Pretty decent food, good prices, late night dining! I need to try them again but earlier in the day as I can only imagine how tired the staff must be...

Our recent visit to this establishment left us pleasantly surprised. Las Cazuelas exudes an authentic charm, with a slightly divey atmosphere that adds to its character in the best possible way. While the service did present a minor language barrier with English, the staff more than made up for it with their attentiveness and promptness. It’s evident that this spot holds a special place in the hearts of the locals, as it boasts a rich history and loyal following. The menu is impressively extensive, featuring a wide array of classic dishes alongside unique offerings that cater to a variety of tastes. Whether you're a fan of traditional favorites or looking to try something new, there's no shortage of options here. Additionally, the drink prices are incredibly reasonable, with an enticing selection of inexpensive drinks and $4 shots, making it a great spot for a casual night out. Overall, our evening at Las Cazuelas was unexpectedly enjoyable, and we can see why it’s a beloved local hangout. It’s a place where the atmosphere, food, and affordability come together to create a fun and memorable experience. We look forward to returning and exploring more of what this gem has to offer.
