I came to austin in 2021, and found this beautiful boutique apt building in “Sentral Living” ! | |It was an unfurnished open concept apt. |The kitchen and bathroom furnishings were upscale lux . |The kitchen/ living space was and open concept, sunny and bright. Colorful tiles that matched my colorful stoneware |The bedrooms were roomy .|It was twice the space and 1/2 of the cost of my condo in NYC . |I was home ! Living in a luxury boutique apt. building .||More importantly the staff, Allen, my main man! made my transition so easy and flawless, helping me get set with all my utilities, insurance, internet . |Several times I was locked out of my apt , and Allen was always around to get me back in . Once it was after midnight and they had an on call team member come within 30 min! ||Over the past years I have interacted with GM Alex , who is very approachable and hands on . He had to address the fire alarms ,or the elevators , they are prompt and on the go at all times. ||The building is well maintained and maintenance is at my door in 24 hours. Jose and his group is top notch. |My dryer recently started to shake and rattle and after evaluation, they just changed it for a new unit! Same with my microwave etc. |I trust and allow them to enter when I’m not home . Never a problem in 3 years. ||The building activities are always fun , a nice social gathering to meet your neighbors here and from the sister building. If you don’t know anyone, the generous food, drinks,& music events are so well put together by Emme, Penny and Alexa, and always draws a crowd, along with an opportunity to catch up with Alex and Allen who show up as well . ||This is my 4th year and I thought I’d never leave, but alas life pulls me away and I am left with this thought ! |If I don’t like where I’m going, I’m going to look for an opening to come back, because I feel safe, well cared for, thanks to the best team here , and the neighborhood has great restaurants, bars, and food trucks that you can walk to ! ||Thank you...

UPDATE 9 MONTHS LATER: Unfortunately, things have gone downhill here at the Sentral (formerly known as the Candela). I unfortunately cannot recommend it anymore. There is only 1 elevator and it breaks 2-3 times a week, every single week. This has been on-going for about 4 months without a proper resolution. I've had to carry heavy groceries up 6 flights of stairs on more than one occasion. If I was unable to walk up several flights of stairs on a regular basis, I would not be able to access my apartment, and I'm sure that is the case for some residents. The building keeps blaming the elevator company. Get a new elevator company. Do SOMETHING! Absolutely unacceptable.
One of the selling points when moving in was that there were no short-term rentals. Now, more than a quarter of the units are short term rentals, which creates safety concerns and adds more of a "party" vibe than before. Rent for those of us full time residents has also gone up about 20% year-over-year.
That being said, I still love my unit, but be careful before moving here.
I've lived at the Candela for a month and I LOVE it so far! My unit is spacious, modern and has great features (gas stove!). The building is clean and well maintained. The staff are wonderful - I can't say enough great things about Allen - what a wonderful human! he few maintenance requests I've submitted have been resolved within an hour. My washer broke and could not be repaired for a week, so the very next day they brought me a new washer instead. MOVE HERE IF YOU CAN!
The only negative is the lack of...
Read moreI've lived at this complex for 2 years now. It changed owners about a year ago and the new ones, Daydream, are terrible. The elevator has been down almost every day for the last month. There have only been 2 communications sent out to tenants about the elevator being down, for a whole month. I sent an email with concerns about accessibility with the elevator being constantly down. It took the company a full week to respond and they did not even address the concerns I shared.
There are other issues as well. The AC for my apartment has broken a couple times. There are electrical outlets that flicker when the fan speed is changed. My kitchen sink is loose and moves around, but the technician said it wouldn't fall so he wasn't going to secure it better.
DO NOT MOVE HERE.
Edit: It is now 5 days after my initial review and 3 days since the management's response that the elevator issue is fixed. The elevator is once again down and has been down 2 other times in the last few days. The complex also sent me a very insulting email about the whole process in which they continue, as they did in their response here, to disregard the accessibility concerns I raised with them.
Edit 2: It is now been almost a month since this review, and the elevator is still constantly down! I am moving out because of the elevator issues. And I am trying to have furniture moved out of my apartment, but the elevator has been down all day. The complex is no help and told me I should just reschedule my movers and take another day off work.
