The food took about an hour to arrive for delivery, and unfortunately, the sushi rolls were underwhelming—basic in flavor and small for the price. The search for great sushi in Austin continues.
For dine in, you can order at the counter or directly from your table online, which is convenient. The setup inside is simple, and both food and drinks came out quickly.
Love Potion Refresher ($8): Super refreshing on a hot day. It's not overly sweet and has strawberry and mango bits that add a nice texture. The hint of lime gives it a pleasant tartness.
A7 Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken ($10): The chicken was cooked fine, but the Taiwanese flavors didn't really come through. It was served with a side of house buttermilk ranch, which didn't pair well. Chili powder would've been a better match, and if they wanted to stay true to Taiwanese style, adding fried basil would've elevated the dish.
A12 Viet Smoked Wings ($14): Five post oak-smoked wings tossed in a Vietnamese "sticky icky" sauce, served with blue ranch and pickled cauliflower. The wings were dry, and the sauce wasn't sticky or caramelized enough to bring out its flavor--or even cling to the wings. The blue ranch had a blue cheese flavor and some chunky bits that resembled cottage cheese--an odd choice. The pickled cauliflower, however, was nicely done and lightly pickled.
C9 Dragon Roll ($17): Nori with protein, kanikama mix, cucumbers, masago, scallions, and sesame seeds. They offer more protein choices on Postmates, so my husband chose BBQ eel. This had a more cohesive flavor than the Happy Roll, but still nothing special.
M10 Happy Roll ($18 | $19.50): Nori with BBQ eel, cucumbers, kanikama, fresh salmon, lemon, crunchy topping, unagi sauce, sriracha, masago, sesame seeds, and scallions. I didn’t realize it had eel until checking the menu—mostly tasted the salmon. Wasn’t a fan of the overall flavor, and the texture leaned too slimy for my taste.
A1 Bird Nest ($15 l $15.95): Baked avocado stuffed with kanikama mix, spicy mayo, snow sauce, and sesame seeds. This was the highlight of the meal—delicious and much better than the sushi. It was rich, flavorful, and well-balanced. Highly recommend!
Pistachio Berry Sandwich ($9.50): Fried Japanese shokupan milk bread filled with pistachio whipped cream, topped with pistachios and strawberry jam. This was so good and easily the best part of the meal. The crispy bread was amazing! There was a bit too much cream left over, but it wasn’t overly sweet.
They also forgot our tiger milk with honey boba, but we got a refund.

Read moreI will preface this review by stating that I do not like posting negative reviews in the slightest and only do so when either the service or the product provided are substantially subpar.
Now, I’ll get into the primary causes that merited this review. My girlfriend and I visited this establishment, Muse Fusion + Sushi, on June 10, 2023 for the first time. We were visiting the city from San Antonio. Upon entering the establishment, we were not greeted by the staff. This was understandable, considering that the place was busy. I then proceeded to ask an individual, who I will only describe as having yellow/blonde highlights in order to prevent causing any offense, about how to place the order at this fine establishment. This individual’s response was the epitome of disgraceful customer service behavior. He proceeded to grunt a sarcastic “yeah” to my questions and refused to engage with me any further. My girlfriend and I sat at a table, scanned the bar code placed there, and ordered our food. The sushi itself was not too bad. The waitress that served us was kind and clearly very busy and rushed. Unfortunately, this “restaurant” had little to none saving graces.
To the individual with highlights who oh so graciously took the time out of their busy day to acknowledge a paying customer, do yourself and your potential customers a favor and find a job outside of customer service. You’re clearly unfit for dealing with customers. Treating everyone equally, key word equally, regardless of your perception of their physical characteristics should be a priority for every single customer service worker. It clearly isn’t for you. Your behavior is a disgrace to customer service and on that particular day you exemplified passive aggressiveness towards first time, paying customers. Maybe I’m too much of an idealist but this should be considered unacceptable behavior in customer service positions.
For the owner/management of this place, do not bother trying to convince me to come back to this establishment with the promised of better service. Train your employees/managers better. Meanwhile, I know which sushi place in Austin to avoid and I’ll be sure to share my experience with my friends as well. I truly wish that I had gone to some other restaurant. What a welcome to Austin this was. But I guess you...
Read moreA true gem!! Tucked away in a strip mall by Target , Ive been eyeing this place for s few years but timing never seemed tight till two weeks ago. Met a friend for lunch before my work day started on a lovely Friday. When walking in, immediately was welcomed with a sincere and cheerful hello! The cheerful voice asked us if we had been before and when we said " no" she enthusiastically explained the workings of the menu and different methods to order, table side with a QR code or at the counter. Since no one was behind us (we were there almost right after opening) we ordered at the counter. She answered all our questions and we made our descions. My friend ordered the Craw daddy roll along with the Spicy Tuna Roll.... Both beautiful presentation and good quantity of rolls. I ordered the Miso Soup and the Snow White roll. A roll with soy paper embracing a melody of crab salad , rice and among other deliciousness. The Miso soup was smooth and light, the perfect note to cleanse the palate before trying my roll. The Snow White rollwas also nice and light but fulfilling and with the spicy Mayo drizzled on top was the perfect touch to pulling it all together! The cheerful voice kept good tabs on us during our meal and at the end offered and more like tempted us with some Japanese Stuffed Fried Dessert Sandwiches! OMG was it tempted, Japanese Milk Bread stuffed with different fillings and than fried! We both reluctantly declined this TIme BUT believe you and me there will be a next time and those tempting dessert sandwiches will be going in my belly!! It was a great experience and put in gear a nice way to start my work day! Can't wait to try again! That cheerful voice.... You did a great job on representing your establishment! BTW... It's a no...
