I really liked the vibe of this place, the baristas were extremely knowledgeable and seemed willing to explain stuff to me. I’m just the average Jane who usually goes to Starbucks, so ordering “real coffee” is not really my forte. I ordered a chai latte with oat milk and it was really delicious, I loved that it had more spice than milk. I also ordered a bagel with hummus, and the quality was pretty good. It was what I expected, which I liked because it can be hard for me to order at new places.

My family and I sat on the back patio and we enjoyed how quiet and serene it was, it was mostly greenery and not a lot of people sat back there. We were able to just chit chat and have a good time. It was nice to get outside of the hectic busyness and loudness of the city!

I was a bit disappointed when I went to order a t-shirt and they didn’t have the one I wanted in a larger size, but they were extremely kind and understanding behind the counter and apologized, which wasn’t necessary but made me feel a lot better. They also said that they would try to get more sizes in soon, which also made the experience better. It felt like the staff truly wanted to help out and make sure my experience was good with this coffee shop.

I also wanted to add I absolutely loved all of the artwork. It was simply gorgeous and my whole family loved walking around and reading it all. It was nice too to see their inclusive signage.

All around, this was a great experience and I will be stopping back in again and...

Cute little coffee shop. Came in for a quick iced americano and cold brew as my bro and I were in desperate need of caffeine. There was no line on an early Sunday afternoon, though almost every seat inside was taken.

The barista was very nice and made my order pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The prices are on par w/most higher end coffee shop w/my order coming to about $8 and change w/tip.

The iced americano was for me and the cold brew for my brother. I love americanos and have many great ones around town and dare I say even SBucks, but the one here fell disappointingly short. It was nowhere as strong as it should have been aka weak and watery...it honestly tasted like when you let the ice melt in one watering it down, but this had full cubes of ice already in it, so not sure what happened for this to fall so short of the mark because it seems like a competent coffee shop.

My brother's cold brew, on the other hand, was decent, but I have to say I've had better around town. Maybe I came on an off day or something.

Next time I am in the area I will stop in a for a sit down coffee experience here as the patio seemed nice and I liked the vibe, I just really hope the actual coffee improves on my subsequent visit. The two stars are just for my americano (service was great tho and I hope to be able to add a couple of stars when I return because i really want to love this place!).

Also, just an FYI, parking is very sparse and they are very...

Now I know why it's called "once over" because they try to get "one over" on you.

The prices online did not match the in store prices and was 50% more expensive which is not only false advertising, but illegal.

Rather than apologizing & accepting their mistake with grace, the barista was rude, snotty & unpleasant.

Since I had planned my day around traveling here, it was definitely a disappointment to start my day with such an unpleasant barista.

The patio is beautiful, and other shops should take note, but the bad attitude was unprecedented and unparalleled & she said "it doesn't matter" & tried to minimize my extreme discomfort with their unethical practice.

Deceptive business practices do need to be called out, because it's not fair for people who make plans, budgets & travel arrangements based on what's advertised on the website.

Updating your site to reflect prices accurately takes one minute, but losing trust & customers often lasts forever.

Remember your consumer rights, because prices displayed must match what is charged.

I would love to return once they improve the quality of the coffee, update the site and train staff in...

Got coffee here while waiting for my tacos from the nearby food truck. It turned out to be one of the worst experiences. 1. While making my coffee, one of the baristas was talking without her face mask on. I didn't feel comfortable so I politely asked the other barista who wore a mask to make me another one. They seemed to be offended and made another one unwillingly. The moment I grabbed the coffee and about to leave I heard them laughing and mocking me because my request was "ridiculous". 2. I asked for a latte with skim milk but what I got was with almond milk. Trashed it after one sip. Didn't want to deal with them again so I asked my credit card for refund.

A quintessential Austin spot that nails craft coffee and laid-back charm. Their espresso drinks are flawless, the drip coffee is bold yet smooth, and everything reflects a commitment to quality. The cozy interior is inviting, but the real magic is on the back patio—a serene hideaway overlooking Bouldin Creek, perfect for a quiet moment or good conversation. Add in the friendly, passionate staff, and it’s clear why this place is a local favorite. For authentic Austin vibes and exceptional coffee, Once Over is a must-visit.

I had the dirty Iced Chai Latte. It was just the right amount of sweet and a hint of the bitter you expect and appreciate from a quality caffeinated beverage. The barista was fast, friendly and offered a cash discount if you opt not to pay with a card. I went out back to their fenced in porch along a sometimes creek. The trees surrounding the patio make you forget you are just steps away from South First.
