Keeping it classic at ThunderCloud Subs since 1975 with my go-to order: Texas Tuna on wheat with all the works - lettuce, tomato, onions, plus my special touches: cucumbers, sprouts, pepper, mustard, and the legendary Thunder Sauce! 🥪✨ #ThunderCloudSubs #ClassicOrder #TexasTuna #AustinEats #FoodieFaves #CustomOrder #OGSubShop #MustTry #FoodieLife #AustinTexas #ATX512 #Fyp #Parati

This Thundercloud is very hit or miss. And it’s “miss” more than it’s “hit.” I like Thundercloud in general and this is the closest one to me (unfortunately). There was a time I called in 15 minutes before to place an order for one sandwich, got there, it wasn’t ready and I waited *25 minutes* for it to be ready. Other people were in line. Getting their sandwiches faster. Mine was being waited for to get made. Thought calling it in 15 minutes prior would have priority. I get being busy, I work in a restaurant, but…dang. I was told I “should have just come in and stood in line.” What’s the point of calling in? And I was there. For 40 minutes. The last time I went (see photo), I placed an order online and every time I do, I don’t put Thundersauce on there due to it getting soggy. When I arrived, the order had gotten made and it was DRENCHED in their red wine vinegar / oil sauce. And looking at it, it had a RIDICULOUS amount of onions. The amount I took off to get to a regular amount TC would put on, it was enough for two other large sandwiches. So, soggy bread, an army of onions/lettuce. To say the least, it was not a good sandwich. A few years ago (I’m sure completely different employees now) I saw them going to the liquor store next door while I was waiting on my sandwich. Wild stuff. Wish this location was much better. One time I was ordering *at the counter* and I had to say like three times what I wanted on the sandwich (the ones with an option like chz, s&p, thundersauce) and then he was like “oh oops, didn’t put on the avocado.” Lol…ugh.

ThunderCloud Subs in Austin, TX, is a consistently great spot for a fresh, flavorful sandwich. No matter which location you visit, the quality of their sandwiches never wavers. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious, which truly sets them apart. My go-to order is the California Club on wheat, and it’s perfect every time. The bread is soft yet hearty, the avocado is creamy, and the turkey and bacon are always perfectly balanced. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or taking a meal to go, ThunderCloud Subs delivers excellent sandwiches that never disappoint. Highly recommend!

"Chill & relaxed culture gone wrong"

Absolutely worst experience I've had getting a simple sandwich. Extremely long wait, disorganization and deplorable hygiene.

The wait: 20 minutes to walk out with 2 sandwiches? I know what you're thinking. "Long line" .... Nope. Just 2 people in front of me that each got one sandwich. The wait was due to apathetic employees apologizing for the wait which was attributed to how "wasted" they got the night prior.

Disorganization: I honestly could not wrap my head around it. Literally EVERY ingredient the employee had to walk away, grab it out of the fridge walk back put it on the sandwich then repeat. It was mind boggling. There PLENTY of successful sandwich shops/ burrito that you can mimic to figure out how to streamline that process... At the very least grab all your ingredients at once.

Hygiene: The other two were annoyances but this is an absolute show stopper. I watched the employee making my sandwich wipe his glasses & face with the gloves that were touching my sandwich, go to the backroom grab a can of olives (dust, dirt, etc...) come back, touch my girlfriends meat sandwich then go over and touch my vegi one. By that point I was grossed out. The cherry on top was when he bent away from the sandwiches like they were a limbo pole and said "Sorry, I'm trying not to get sweat in these... I was just out back breaking down boxes."

I literally can't make that up. I paid the $12 dollars for the two sandwiches and immediately threw them in the dumpster (pictured)

Management/ownership need to step in, clean it up and properly train people on food safety. They can seriously injure somebody with these habits. I'd be afraid of what else is going on...

Horrible service. They obviously don’t pay attention to the notes on orders. Specifically asked for pickles and no avocado and what do you know…. avocado on the sandwich and no pickles. Normally I wouldn't care but I’m allergic to avocados so there is no way of eating the sandwich at all. Well no worries I called and the said they would remake my order. Wonderful. So I leave my job for the second time to go to get my order and ask for a PICKLE. My order was wrong the first time so let me just make sure there is at least a pickle by just asking for one. The manager there decides to have a condescending attitude telling me that I need to pay and it’s “just 33 cents”. Well I wouldn’t have had to go there again in the first place if my order was right to begin with. (I also ordered a salad with ranch… no ranch) I’ve only had food from here a few times but I’ll never go again. When a customer is upset… I think it’s best to not laugh. This bad review isn’t just about a wrong order or a pickle. Maybe the manager decided to laugh at me because an immature person will think it’s just about a pickle. It’s not. It’s the whole attitude around it and it sad that a company will rather hold their ground over something so small then just make a...
