Chill at Descanso Beach Club — Restaurant in Avalon

We reserved lounge chairs at Descanso Beach, and overall the experience was just okay. The complimentary smoothie was delicious, and all the drinks we ordered were excellent.

What brought my rating down to 3 stars was the condition of the lounge chairs and umbrellas. The cushions had sand and stains on them, which made it feel less clean and comfortable, especially considering the $208 cost for the chairs. I think the cushions should be washed or replaced more regularly for paying customers.

On top of that, our umbrella was broken, and we noticed many others around us were broken as well. On such a hot day, having reliable shade is essential, and it was disappointing that so many umbrellas were unusable.

This spot has a lot of potential because the service and drinks were great, but the upkeep of the lounge chairs and umbrellas really needs...

Rented a cabana (on the hill, not in front of the beach) for the day. Honestly, the cabanas could use a bit more cleaning and updates. The tv was dirty, table was worn out, and they left food out without any sort over cover. That meant flies were all over the food they set out while we were at the beach. There was also a smell of sewage that made it uncomfortable. I was disappointed. I’d suggest going with a cabana beach front if you’re weighing...

Went here while visiting Catalina from a cruise. Our group of 10 walked here from the port and enjoyed the beach views with some great drinks. The descanso destroyer and spicy watermelon margarita were both delicious and strong. The staff was friendly, attentive and helped combine some tables for our large group. I definitely recommend making the walk over from the port to check...
