Well I've been to MASSIVELY OVERPRICED restaurants that serve insultingly bad and shameful food before, but this place is one of, IF NOTTHE WORST example l've come across. They have pita bread in Isreal and it's fantastic. This place slides a rock hard, inedible piece of what can only be described as thin cardboard under what they call "Shwarma". I assure you it is not Shwarma. It was blandly seasoned low quality chicken chopped into pieces on a cutting board, fat and cartilage included, and piled on that piece of cardboard AND they have the NERVE to call it Shwarma. And for $32!!! Shame on you. That item should be on a children's menu for $12. And even then I would say, it's terrible and disgusting and still a ripoff.
The prices in this place are STAGGERING AND A COMPLETE RIPOFF. THE ENTIRE MENU is designed to rip you off. The menu reads, "ask about portions as the plates are designed for sharing". I asked how many ribs come in the order for $33 as there were 6 of us; the server said 1. Shamefull restauranture and executive chef. None of the sharable items are for more than 1, not for 2 or more people. By my calculations- if you go here with 4-6 people and order accordingly you will spend $600-$800. Just go to Joes's Stone Crab and spend $400. Or go to ANY kosher steakhouse and spend far less, get great food, reasonable portions and spend less than $100-$150 a person including drinks. $10 for a beer?!?!? They donât even have $10 beers in Manhattan? Is the food good, Absolutely not!! Far from it.The beef hummus- $24 and barely enough for 1 person, not to share. Barely 3oz of hummus and barely 1/4 oz of ground beef for $24- and not a sharing portion AT ALL, so what-we are supposed to DO? order 3-4 of these for 6 people to the tune of $75-$100?!!!!?? For hummus with a little ground beef sprinkled on it?!?! You disgust me. Shame on the owner. Shame on the chef. You should be mortified & embarrassed.
It's ONE THING if the food is exemplary and high quality as well as the service and cleanliness.
It would be a different story if you said, wow that was the best food I've had in a while, that's delicious. BUT NO! you are left thinking- this place is bad.Really bad! And they are out to take your money to pay the rent. How dare you? I NEVER THOUGHT I'D EVER SAY THIS- I would have rather gone upstairs to Serifina, & SERIFINA IS horrible. SMH.The server was asked is there anything gluten-free to dip in the hummus. He offered the "Crude-dites." Which turned out to be "crudités" pronounced "crew-dah-tay" its French. For raw veggies. For $12 he didn't know what that was. AND again, not even close to a shareable plate for more than 2 people, maybe. Mind you, when we asked, AGAIN, after the CREW-DITES arrived lol for something gluten free- we got what was available all the while. The staff doesn't know what's on the menu. They don't know position numbers when serving entrees. We don't need an announcement of each entree to see who raises their hand- if you don't know who gets what just leave and take your crapy overpriced food with you. They don't know how to pronounce items on the menu. They don't know what "no ice" means when ordering a lemonade. THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SHWARMA IS. They don't seem to know how to clean properly. They don't know how to portion dishes accurately and price them accordingly. ThiS place is ALL ABOUT PROFIT MARGINS AT YOUR EXPENSE. This place fails on all accounts. Not to mention the flies or whatever insects flying around the table/restaurant. Likely means they don't clean well. If the prices were 50% of what they are, it would at least make sense having such bad food & small portions BUT I would still say, it's garbage not worth your time. OR MONEY. Food is crap. Service stinks. Bugs. Prices are ridiculous. Portions are offensive. Clean your restaurant. Make edible food. Educate your servers. The chef should go to YouTube and watch a video to learn what Shwarma is and how to make it. They DO NOT HAVE A SHWARMA SPIT. Shameful. I called 4 times....
Read moreMy husband and I are regulars at Motek Aventura since their opening days, following them to their larger location as they outgrew the first location. My husband is the type of client that tends to order just about everything on the menu, which has resulted in us spending quite a bit there over time. Whenever family comes to visit, we make it a point to take them to Motek for brunch, lunch, or dinner. In fact, I even celebrated my birthday brunch there earlier this year. We've consistently enjoyed their meals and waitersâ attentiveness and always left the restaurant satisfied from all aspects. However, todayâs experience was quite different, and Iâm still feeling shocked about it.
I was at the mall with my mom, and we started discussing where to grab a bite to eat. Naturally, I suggested Motek, We sat down and our waitress approached us, right away, I sensed a strange vibe from her but Iâm not the type that would point it out. My mom was asking her if the schnitzel plate comes with any sides and bread, not sure why the waitress thought it was a rude question because I could just feel how annoyed she was with our presence.
While we waited for our food, I kept telling my mom how this restaurant maintains high standards for service, from the professionalism of the staff to their neat uniforms with ties. I wanted her to feel confident in my recommendation. Then we got our food (by other servers as usual) During the duration of us dining our waitress didnât check in on us at all. Not even once. Our water glasses went unfilled and she didnât even care to ask if we would like anything else or if everything was alright⊠It was as if we werenât there. Ghosts to her really.
This lack of attention was frustrating, especially since I had praised the restaurant for its service. After finishing our meal, it was only when my mom waved to get the waitressâs attention to us that she finally came over, asking if we wanted coffee. We politely declined, and then she brought the payment machine. She swiped the card, put the card on the table, and rudely walked away without saying a single wordâno thank you, no have a good night, nothing at all. (You could feel the very bad energy from her)
By this point, we were both annoyed. My mom asked for the waitress to come back, and while I felt uncomfortable in that moment, I knew it was necessary to address the situation. My mom, (who has experience running 13 restaurants herself) spoke up and shared her thoughts on the service we had received. Then my mom asked for her name, and her reply was, âI donât have to give you my name,â and she eagerly turned around and walked away again. That response was incredibly unprofessional and added more to our frustration.
We decided to involve the manager, who listened and after hearing the whole story, refunded the automatic 20% tip that had been added to our bill. While we appreciated this gesture, it wasnât about the money for us; it was about the principle of the matter. This type of service is not what weâve come to expect from Motek
If I ever get that waitress again, I would seriously consider leaving the restaurant because my goal is to enjoy my meals, not to leave feeling upset.
Iâm sharing this review not just out of frustration but also out of genuine concern for the restaurantâs reputation with that type of service and rudeness. Itâs been a few hours since the incident and Iâm still thinking about it, and I hope Motek will reconsider her fit or provide her with the necessary retraining. Everyone deserves a positive dining experience, and...
Read moreThis restaurant does have a nice selection of items that you can find the food that you prefer. Pros: Atmosphere is very nice, the light colors of the design make the place very comfortable to spend time there. The place is ideal for just having a dinner or celebrate an event or even date or friends hang out. The food is tasty and well represented on the plates. The place is clean, the restrooms are clean. The supervisors/managers are around and checking the costumers Most of the waiters (except the one who supposed to take care of us) were helpful and around so they who mainly helped me. Cons: When you order an appetizer, they include a bread with it which sounds nice, but I ordered two one for each of us and we get also only one bread, when I asked for the second bread as I ordered two appetizers, after returning home I found that I have been charged for the bread, it is not a logic thing as I ordered two not one and eachbine comes with a bread. The bill charged 20% service fee included directly, my waiter, her name was Mariyam, she was ignoring us, I am not happy with her service, other team members were helping me as she was rarely showing up to our table, so I would prefer give the service award to them not to who did not provide service. turkish lamb contained two hard matters that I had to go next day to the dentist to check whether everything is okay or not after having such dry bones or stones in the meat. -Our waiter her name way Mariyam, she rarely showed up to our table, even I had my fork felt on the floor, another waiter came and brought to me a clean one and asked me not to go sown to grab the felt one, reallt great waiter and I would like to thank him.Another waiter brought the water and cleaned extra plate, and where is our waiter? not there and always look on us and communicate with hate, I do not know why.I wanted to order other items but because I was not able to find her, I jusy asked for the bill paid and left to leave that bad treatment for me as a costumer. Overall, the place is very nice, price is normal, clean, many amazing people, I would try it again and try another items in the menu, hopefully does not contain dry things in the meat but I honestly, O am afraix to get to the same waiter and be treated...
