China Bistro — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I drove over one day after doing some research for places with quality soups. I was unsure if they’d be able to accommodate me seeing as I’ve returned to a 100% plant based diet. Nena was working the front & was kind enough to explain what I’d be able to consume & what I could not. It was a giant help. She was very generous with her instructions to me for future visits. She left such a great impression that day that I have returned with my partner several times over, now. We alternate between ordering the Combo Plate C (meat for him & vegan for me) or each ordering our favorite soup. Helen has been at the front on our visits lately, too, & she always makes sure our order is perfect. The portions on the plates are HUGE & enough for one to make two meals out of them & then the soups are always piping hot, making them excellent for days when those cravings for it arrive. This location has barely opened, came here because of the promotional offer of 50% off from Maya with a movie ticket but that was only for the same day of the purchase of the movie ticket.

Food was not very good, the fries rice especially was exceptionally tasteless, even with like 4 soy sauce packets, i dont think they actually fried the rice because of how bland it was.The chow mein wasn't that bad though but did need soy sauce as well. The coconut shrimp was good as always thankfully and so was the bbq pork and the Orange chicken. Hopefully with time of this place being open the employees will get better with the fried rice.

Parking is also dependant on how packed the theater is which tonight around 8 on a Saturday we almost went home after cruising around all 3 parking lots and finding no parking at all, ended up on the street in a questionable bus zone on the street along with everyone else who couldn't find parking.

The food was Ok. Definitely not the best in Bakersfield. But the service is Enough for me to Not go back. There was 2 ladys ( both hispanic) very rude, the one that charged me even rolled her eyes. Mind you, Ive never been here. I have over 20 yrs of experience as a restaurant manager and these people should be working in a non service industry. Horrible attitudes.
